MUZAFFARABAD: The Government of Sweden would launch more projects to facilitate the people of earthquake-hit areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The projects include health, sanitation and education sector. Swedish Ambassador to Pakistan Anna Kerin stated this, while addressing a closing ceremony of Mid-term housing project held here on Thursday. Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), International Organization for Migration (IOM), Muzaffarabad Development Authority and Municipal Corporation Muzaffarabad, jointly organized the ceremony. SIDA Chief Brayn Keley, Regional Chief IOM Hassan Al-Mustafa, ERRA representative Brig. Tariq Weraich and other high officials of Swedish embassy and ERRA were also present on the occasion. The Ambassador Mrs. Anna Kerin said that several reconstruction projects were launched by the Swedish government to mitigate the sufferings of quake-hit areas people, besides carrying out relief and rescue activities in the aftermath of October 8, 2005 devastating earthquake. The Swedish government has donated Rs. 1.45 billion for the reconstruction of quake-hit areas. The Ambassador said that her government in the hour of trial promptly responded and also persuaded to the international community to show solidarity with the government of Pakistan and its people. “We are going to set up centers in Pakistan aimed at imparting training to the people on modern lines in order to meet any challenges of the natural catastrophe and other emergency like situation, ” She said.
