KARACHI: Amir Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) KarachiMuhammad Hussein Mehnati has said that the strike and lockout of textile mill owners in Faisalabad should be a wakeup call for the PPP government, as this tendency of strikes may soon engulf other major cities of Pakistan. In a statement he termed the 100-day performance of government ”anti-people”, due to rising price hike of daily-use commodities, as well as, oil, gas and electricity prices. He said this price hike had marred the industrial activities and production, he added. He said that closure of industries had rendered jobless to more than 40 thousand labors. He said this unemployment and poverty would further rise if the government failed to change its wrong policies. Adding this series of strikes could spread across the country and the ocean of infuriated peoples could take to streets against the measures of present regime. JI leader demanded to meet the demands of mill owners and traders so that the wheel of industry could be kept moving in Pakistan.
