Rescue operation intensifies as flood starts receding: ISPR

RAJANPUR: Rescue operation intensified in troubled flood affected areas of Rajanpur after flood started receding on Monday, said spokesman to ISPR. The hill torrents that came from Suleman Mountain Range due to heavy rains hit the plain areas of DG Khan and Rajanpur districts besides damaging on-going construction work of Katchi canal project. DDOR Tariq Aitzaz Ahsan, tehsildar Malik Sami, tehsil nazim Mirza Ubaidullah, and DSP Hassan have been supervising rescue and relief operation in tehsil Jampur. While, DCO Muhammad Aslam Janjua and DPO Dr. Rizwan besides other officials of different departments have been supervising rescue and relief operation in Rojhan tehsil. Two helicopters are also being utilized in rescue operation and relief camps have been set up in troubled areas to help the marooned people. The intensity and volume of the hill torrents was observed as low on Monday as compared to Sunday and water has started spreading to low lying areas after causing devastation in many villages. The flood has destroyed mud houses and other structures besides standing crops and livestock in 42 Mozas of the district including 20 in tehsil Rojhan and 22 in tehsil Jampur. One person namely Younis was killed in Rajanpur district. The Mozas badly hit by floods in Jampur included Harand, Tibbi Lundani, Tibbi Solangi, Noshera Gharbi, Til Shumali, Basti Dhandla, Basti Hambi, Kotla Gujjar, Raqba Dhandla, Hajo, Basti Machi, Karan, Salam Pur, Hajipur, Matwa, Chak No 1, 2, Goth Mazari, and others. Meanwhile, citizens have appealed the government to launch projects to control hill torrents including Kaha Sultan, Chajar, Zangi, Soori and others in case of heavy rains during monsoon season.

Fauji cement establishes first ever garbage recycle plant

ISLAMABAD: The Fauji Cement has set up the first ever plant at Rawalpindi to recycle garbage into fuel.The newly stalled recycle plant would make use of garbage as a source to produce fuel, which would then be used in the cement plant.The plant has a capacity of 12 tones per hour, which will produce energy equivalent to 170 tones of coal fuel.
