IHC to hear writ petition for placing Pervez Musharraf on ECL

ISLAMABAD: The single bench of Chief Justice Sardar Mohammad Aslam will on Thursday hear a writ petition about placing the name of former President Pervez Musharraf and others on Exit Control List (ECL), for their alleged involvement in a massacre during Lal Mosque operation. Khawja Khalid, Chairman Defence of Human Rights Society, in his writ petition prayed to court to direct senior police officials and Abapara police station to register First Investigation Report against former president Pervez Musharraf, former interior minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, Chief Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, General Tariq Majeed and Inspector General of Police Islamabad. He also claimed that former president and former interior minister could flee the country, therefore, their names along with other respondents should be placed on Exit Control List (ECL). He alleged that these people were responsible for the murder of hundreds of innocent people inside Lal Mosque. The petitioner said that an attempt was made to register FIR against these people at Aabpara police station but SHO refused. Later, he took the matter to the District and Sessions Judge Islamabad who also refused to hear the case. On Monday, Registrar Office had placed objections over plea of Khawja Khalid who has submitted the writ petition after removing objections.
