SA session resumes today

KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly session would be resumed today (Friday).On Thursday, the Assembly rejected a resolution to increase job quota for women in government services.The opposition leader termed the rejection as an attempt to bulldoze the efforts of opposition whereas treasury benches members said that quota means to limitize women which is unfair.

Kohat tunnel closure enters eight day

KOHAT: Kohat Tunnel and Indus Highway remained closed for the eight consecutive days on Friday due to ongoing operation against militants in Darra Adamkhel.According to sources, an indefinite curfew was put in place in Darra Adamkhel due to ongoing shelling between security forces and militants. People were trapped in their homes. The area is without electricity and facing shortage of food items. It may be recalled that security forces had launched operation against the militants in Darra Adamkhel on August 29.

Flintoff stars as England win fourth ODI

LONDON: Andrew Flintoff starred with bat and ball as England won the fourth one-day international against South Africa by seven wickets at Lord’’s on Sunday. England, set a revised target of 137 to win off 20 overs after rain disrupted the South African innings of 183 for six in 32.1 overs, made it with 14 balls to spare with Kevin Pietersen making 40, and Owais Shah 44 not out. Flintoff came in and smashed a rapid 31 off 12 deliveries to add to his three for 21 with the ball. Pietersen was out with 44 still wanted but he and Shah had upped the tempo of England’’s run chase by hitting a Jacques Kallis over for 20. The England captain eventually holed out in the deep after hitting five fours and a six before Flintoff came in and took the game away from South Africa and give England a 4-0 lead in the series.
