D. I. Khan: One woman was killed and seven others injured including four children in a blast at home in Dere Ismail Khan here on Wednesday.According to police, blast happened in Nobel Town area, destroying a home completely while affecting several others. A woman knows as Shahida Parveen was killed and seven others sustained injuries in the blast, police said.The injured were rushed to the hospital in which three were reported to have in critical condition. The blast occurred when it was raining in Dera Ismail Khan and the entire city was out of electricity. The police said cause and type of the blast could not be known yet.

BAHAWALPUR: Police says it has killed two robbers in an encounter in Bahawalpur here on Tuesday night. According to police, the alleged dacoits kidnapped a person from Sadiqabal and were taking him towards border areas of Punjab and Sindh. The Police, after receiving secret information, followed them who opened fire at the police. Police fired back which killed two robbers. However, the abducted person was released safely.

ISLAMABAD: The Met office has forecast rains with strong winds in some parts of country during the next 24 hours.According to the Metrological department, scattered rains are expected in Islamabad, upper Punjab, NWFP and Kashmir with strong winds. The maximum temperature expected in Lahore and Karachi is 36 centigrade, Islamabad 35 centigrade, Peshawar 36 centigrade, Quetta 34 centigrade while the Turbat is likely to be the hottest area with maximum temperature of 45 centigrade.

KARACHI: The cloth worth million of rupees were burnt down when fire erupted in a cloth market situated at M.A. Jinnah road in Karachi here on Tuesday night.The fire brigade officials said the fire broke out in a store on the first and second storey of New Jamai Centre. The store-owner said there was cloth worth Rs2.5million in the store which completely burnt down. The cause of fire could not be known yet.

KARACHI: Selling pressure continued to weaken prices of leading scrips at Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) Tuesday as 100-Index fell by 9.44 points to close at 9,223.52, dealers said. The turnover volume was low at 9.966 million shares as prices of 18 scrips record gains and 38 sustained loss while 82 remained unchanged. The market capitalization was eroded by Rs 3 billion to Rs 2.877 trillion. Nadeem Chawla, a dealer at a leading brokerage house said that lack of support was badly hurting the market as big players and financial institutions stayed away. The market would have collapsed in the absence of capping, he added. Ansari Sugar was the volume leader with a turnover of 2.260 million shares followed by Engro Chemical 1.843 million shares, MCB Bank 0.993 million shares, Al-Abbas Cement 0.573 million shares and Pak PTA 0.545 million shares. Pakistan Cement closed at 4.90, Fauji Fertilizer 100, KESC 3.80, NIB Bank 8.45, Engro Chemical 184.70, MCB Bank 235.75, Ansari Sugar 8 and Pak PTA 3.18. Clover Pakistan recorded the highest increase of Rs 3.99 to 151.99 followed by Pak Tobacco which moved up by 3.11 to 117 while Atlas Battery dipped by 5.75 to 120 and Pak Paper went down by Rs 5 to 130.
