LAHORE: The Pakistan kabaddi team has reached India on Monday for playing the six-match series against India.The Pakistan team will also participate in a tournament besides playing the six matches.On the beginning of the tournament, Pakistan team will take part in the tournament on October 31 after which the six matches will be played between the two countries.The first match of the kabaddi series between Pakistan and India will be played on November 5 at Hoshiarpur, second match on November 9 at Amritsar, third match on November 10 at Ludhiana, fourth match on November 12 at Maksar, fifth match on November 13 at Jallundhar and the sixth and the final match will be played on November 14 at Bhatanda.

KARACHI: In preparation of playing the junior hockey series against India, the training camp of the Pakistan team will commence tomorrow for which names of 36 probable players have been announced.Three sessions were held on the final day of the two-day trials at the Hockey Club of Pakistan stadium on Monday.The PHF selection committee, headed by Hasan Sardar, reviewed the performance of the players in the trials.In all, 80 players were invited but only 58 of them attended the trials.Chief selector Hasan Sardar, in consultation with the team management of the junior hockey team, announced the names of 36 players. They included four goalkeepers, six fullbacks, two halfbacks and 17 forwards.Training camp of the players, supervised by chief coach Qamar Ibrahim, will begin on Tuesday.Final trials will be held after four days from which 22 players will be selected.Chief selector Hasan Sardar told that Imran Butt would not be invited at the camp as he had gone from the previous camp after lying.He said that the series against India would help in preparing for the Junior World Cup.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) is working on enhancing the tax to GDP ratio from 15 to 10 percent in the next few years.Member Directorate FBR Irfan Nadeem told Geo News that measures are being taken to improve the tax-GDP ratio.He said talks with the IMF are underway in Dubai with regard to the acquisition of loan. In this connection, the increasing of tax-GDP ratio to 15 per cent in the next three years has come up as a condition.

SWAT: Ten extremists were killed while three were arrested in an operation by the security forces here on Monday.According to spokesman of the Pakistan army, the security forces launched this operation in Sarsenai, an area of district Kabal in Swat.The ISPR spokesman told that three extremists were also arrested in the operation by the security forces.The hideouts of the extremists were hit by artillery during the operation which also killed three extremists. The said operation was launched on reports that some of the 60 people, kidnapped on previous day, were killed.Before the operation, the security forces had directed the inhabitants of Sarsenai to move from the area and appealed to the local people not to give shelter to the extremists and hand them over to the government.

KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan said Sunday that Rs500 billion will be available through the relaxations in Advances to Deposits Ratio (ADR) of banks.Spokesman of the central bank said that the State Bank has decided to lower the ADR of the banks to enable them to lend to the priority sectors of the economy on which the development of the country depends. In this regard, a detailed circular has been issued to the banks, said a SBP statement issued here.As per the detailed instructions issued, the Advances will comprise all loans and advances (net of provisions) excluding the haircuts like Refinance availed from SBP under Export Refinance Scheme and Long Term Financing Facility (LTFF) Schemes, lending for commodity operations, lending for power generation and distribution and lending to/placements with other banks (if included in loans/advances).Moreover, the term Deposits for the purpose of calculating Advances to Deposits Ratio will also include Tier 1 Capital of the banks. It further said that these measures will align the ADR requirements to the underlying liquidity risk parameters and will ensure the adequate availability of credit to all sectors of the economy.
