HBL, NBP clash in hockey final today

KARACHI: Habib Bank Ltd (HBL) will take on National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) in the final of the 5th NBP National Junior Cup Hockey Championship final, here at the Hockey Club of Pakistan Stadium today. Earlier in the second semifinal on Wednesday evening, HBL faced a strong challenge from PIA before overpowering them 4-3. Shahbaz Ahmed turned out to be the hero for HBL as he scored the decider to put HBL into the final. Earlier, HBL got off to a sterling start when they gained a 3-0 lead by the 45th minute. Rana Zubair put HBL ahead in the 16th minute with a penalty corner goal and Shahbaz Ahmed scored the second in the 40th minute as Azlan Khan netted the third. However, PIA bounced back in the match as Kashif Ali scored off two penalty corners and Inayatullah levelled terms in the 59th minute.

Sindh govt to assess losses over Karachi violence

KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to undertake a survey to assess the actual loss of lives and properties due to Karachi violence. The provincial government is also considering of paying the compensation to the families of dead and injured. Sindh Home department has issued directives to DCO Karachi in this connection.The DCO will collect the relevant data from the affected areas and submit it to the provincial government.
