Nawaz Sharif meets Pervez Elahi in Dubai

DUBAI: Pakistan Muslim League-N Chief Nawaz Sharif and former chief minister Punjab Pervez Elahi have reportedly met here on Thursday.Both the leaders had an exchange of views on the current political situation of Pakistan, sources said.Sources further said that the meeting was arranged by common friends.It may be mentioned here that Nawaz Sharif arrived in Dubai on Wednesday on a private visit to meet his younger daughter.

Police seizes 400 kg explosives in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police has seized 400 kilograms of explosives along with detonators and arrested 10 persons from a house in Karal area.Interrogation from the arrested is underway, said SP East Islamabad Saqib Sultan while addressing press conference.He termed the recovery of such a large quantity of explosives as a sign of alarm, saying these explosives were to be used in a major act of terror.Saqib Sultan said investigation is being conducted as to how such a big quantity of explosives was transported into the city.

KSE board decides to help out stock members

KARACHI: Karachi Stock Exchange Board has decided to take immediate steps towards helping out the stock members, whose membership cards have been suspended.According to KSE sources, the committee, formed to resolve issues relating to CFS market, have decided to buy stocks at rates 12 per cent lower than December 24 prices from the members whose membership cards have been suspended.The CFS financiers will buy these stocks worth Rs3.90 billion.

Pakistan is a nuclear power, its defence is undefeated: Shahbaz Sahrif

LAHORE: Chief minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif said that the defence of Pakistan is undefeated and no one can look at the country with evil intentions.He said that if Pakistan was not a nuclear power then India would have attacked it.Shahbaz Sharif said that India is directly involved in the Balochistan events.Addressing at a Christmas ceremony in Lahore, the chief minister said that Pakistan is an atomic power and the services of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Mian Nawaz Sharif in making Pakistan a nuclear power are commendable.He said that the whole world has tried to let Pakistan alone in the Mumbai attacks. If India provides solid evidence then we are ready to extend our fullest cooperation to it.
