ISLAMABAD: Visiting US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Richard Boucher Monday said that drone attacks had become a compulsion as attacks on the US and allied forces in Afghanistan were very alarming.The action in Pakistani tribal areas was very essential to counter these offensives, he said while responding to the serious reservations expressed by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi during their meeting here on Monday. Mariana Baabar adds, The United States on Monday assured Pakistan that it was in contact with the important countries as well as with the Middle Eastern leaders to find an early solution to the Gaza crisis. The US has also informed the Pakistani political leadership that an early resolution of the Kashmir dispute was important and once the present crisis was defused and the situation normalised, the US government would move ahead with its initiative to help Pakistan and India find a solution to the Kashmir dispute.The visiting US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Richard Boucher, said this when he met President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Gilani while condemning the Israeli attack on Gaza urged the US and the world community to play their role in bringing an end to the Israeli atrocities.The political leadership also brought up the issue of Dr. Afia Siddiqui and the five Pakistani nationals in Guantanamo Bay prison who Pakistan feels should be repatriated as soon as possible.The notorious Guantanamo Bay of the Bush era is being closed down by the new administration taking over in Washington. According to official statements, Boucher held out an assurance that he would take up the cases of Dr. Afia and five Pakistani nationals in Guantanamo prison with the relevant US authorities for their expeditious repatriation to Pakistan.
