SAFMA Secretary General Imtiaz Alam attacked

LAHORE: South Asian Free Media Association (SAFMA) Secretary General Imtiaz Alam was Wednesday attacked and injured by four unidentified men, as he reached home from office. The four men armed with hockey sticks and clubs attacked the renowned journalist and founding secretary general of SAFMA as he was about to enter his house at around 11 pm. The men, as explained by Imtiaz Alam, were apparently in their 20s and all of them had beards. The attackers started smashing the car from all directions destroying the car in every way possible.Imtiaz stayed in the car for safety but the attackers after smashing the windows and the windscreen hit him as he sat inside the car wounding his arm. The attackers fled after smashing the car.

Four die in accident on Gwadar highway

GWADAR: Four people were killed and three others were injured after oil tanker collided with pick-up on Costal Highway in Gwadar District on Wednesday.According to police, the incident occurred on Costal Highway when oil tanker rammed pick-up coming from opposite direction, killing four people and injuring three others.The fire broke out in both the vehicles, causing casualties. Ghafoor, Munir, Aslam and Siraj died on the spot while their three associates sustained injuries. They were rushed to a nearby hospital. However, police reached the scene and initiated the investigation into accident.

Police, rangers deployed in Lyari after armed clash

KARACHI: Police and rangers commenced search operation in Lyari late Wednesday night after two armed groups clashed here.An exchange of fire erupted between two armed groups in Lyari, which continued late today night. Tension gripped the area following the clash. Heavy troops comprising police and rangers have been deployed in and around the area and the houses are being searched for arrestment of clashing men.So far, no arrest has been made by the police.
