KARACHI: Karachi police has arrested, in an encounter, a group allegedly involved in stealing and snatching of cars.SSP Gulshan Iqbal in a press conference here at Mubina Town Police Station on Wednesday said two cars were signaled to stop at University Road during a snap checking. The cars instead of pulling over tried to escape. They were chased by police party and after an exchange of fire near SUPARCO, two persons riding one of the cars were arrested.They have been identified as Syed Safdar Ali and Syed Mehdi Ali Shah.The riders of second car succeeded in escaping after leaving the car.The above cars were snatched from Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Defence areas. The police also recovered one more car from Ayub Goth after conducting a raid in Jamshed Qaurter on pointation by the arrested.

KARACHI: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam NWFP Ameer Senator Gul Naseeb Khan said on Wednesday that cases of missing persons, Lal Mosque and Pervez Musharraf case would test the nerves of reinstated judiciary.Addressing a press conference here, Senator Gul Naseeb said that although restoration of judiciary had strengthened the federation yet mounting inexorable pressure on judiciary at present would be an inappropriate act.He urged Pakistan Muslim League-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif to foster the process of political cohesion by rejoining the federal government. Responding to a question, he said the violation of peace deal in Malakand by authorities has deteriorated the situation in the division.
