Pakistan Denies Tacit Support for U.S. Strikes on Its Territory (Bloomberg)

March 27 (Bloomberg) — Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry denied the government has given the U.S. “tacit permission” to use drones to attack militants on its territory, saying no country would support violations of its sovereignty.

Obama To Outline Afghanistan, Pakistan Strategy (NPR)

President for resolving Balochistan issues

QUETTA: President Asif Ali Zardari said on Thursday that the government would resolve problems of Balochistan on priority basis to bring progress and prosperity in the province.Addressing the provincial cabinet members here at Balochistan CM Secretariat, the President said that the federal government would implement the recommendations presented by the cabinet members for improving law and order, maintaining peace, and initiating development projects in Balochistan. He said the government would also release funds for the completion of various ongoing development projects. The President said the government was speeding up the oil and gas exploration, and taking initiatives for providing protection to the exploring companies in the province. Speaking on the occasion, Balochistan cabinet members lauded the reconciliatory role of the President, and said it had improved not only the political atmosphere in Balochistan, but also improved political environment in the country. They thanked the PPP-led government and the President for taking practical steps for the progress and prosperity of the people of Balochistan.

Journalist gunned down in Pindi

RAWALPINDI: Unknown armed men shot dead Raja Asad, reporter of a local English newspaper here on Thursday.According to reports, He was shot in the neck by unknown motorcyclists in Rawalpindi. Asad was taken to a local hospital in critical state where he succumbed to the injuries.

Sports ministry is accountable to Parliament: Jilani

LAHORE: Federal minister sports Peer Syed Aftab Shah Jilani said that the ministry of sports does not interfere into the job of anyone unless he follows the law. Lawyers demand promulgation of Nizam-e-Adal in Swat

SWAT: Swat Bar Association lawyers protested on Thursday in favour of promulgation of Nizam-e-Adal regulation in Swat.The protestors demanded that President Asif Ali Zardari should sign Nizam-e-Adal regulation without any further delay. The lawyers said enduring peace could not be established in Swat without promulgation of Shariah.They said the regulation had already been endorsed by the governor and chief minister. The lawyers gave the government three days for promulgation of Nizam-e-Adal regulation.
