IG Sindh orders deployment of police in civvies

KARACHI: Inspector General of Police Sindh has directed the police officials to ensure deployment of police personnel in civvies in all the thickly populated areas and Katchi Abadies of major cities of the province.IG Sindh Salahuddin Babar Khattak, in view of current law and order situation of the province, ordered CCPO Wasim Ahmed and all the regional police officers to step up surveillance at all the entry/exit points of all the cities. He also directed for making snap checking and patrolling more effective.

Govt. stops termination notification of 5 Baloch ministers

QUETTA: The government on Thursday stopped a notification of termination of five Balochistan ministers.Addressing a joint news conference with Balochistan cabinet members, State Minister for Ports and Shipping Sardar Nabeel Gabol said that the sacked ministers called on Balochistan Chief Minister Sardar Aslam Raisani today. Gabol said that during the meeting, grievances of ministers were addressed and the CM assured them of his full cooperation.He said provincial ministers Sadiq Umrani, Ameen Umrani, Asfandyar Kakar, Jan Changazi and Agha Irfan gave controversial statements and the PPP co-chairman and President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari took a serious note of the violation of code of conduct by these ministers.

Global information technology report 2009 issued

ISLAMABAD: The World Economic Forum has issued the global information technology report for 2009 according to which Pakistan has been placed at the 98th position in the world.In Islamabad, the Competitiveness Support Fund has issued this report which is the eighth report from the World Economic Forum.Details of 134 countries have been mentioned in this report and Pakistan stands at the 98th among these countries.Earlier, Pakistan was ranked 89th among 127 countries and thus its ranking improved by nine places.
