KIMBERLEY: In a heavyweight clash, the Chennai Super Kings take on the defending champions, the Rajasthan Royals with the winning team gaining valuable points in the race for a top four finish and a semifinal spot. Chennai, who took the honours in the same fixture earlier in the tournament, would love continue their run of good form, with Matthew Hayden powering on top of the order.Rajasthan too dont lag behind in the area of big hitting, with the likes of Graeme Smith and Yusuf Pathan in their arsenal. And with the inspirational Shane Warne leading the way, all the ingredients look set for a delicious encounter.Shane Warne won yet another toss and elected to bat first. His decision to bat first backfired in the first over as Albie Morkel shattered the stumps of N.Ojha to give the Super Kings the best possible start. In came Swapnil Asnodkar, who along with Graeme Smith brought some stability to the Rajasthan innings. Both batsmen played a steady innings to get the Rajasthan innings moving. Punishing the bad balls to the boundaries and rotating the strike at regular intervals was the motto of their partnership. They took Rajasthan past the 50 mark.Asnodkar was then caught in front by Muralitharan as he went for an ambitious sweep, but played across the line. Smith soon followed as he was sharply stumped by Dhoni again off the bowling of Murali. After the departure of the couple, the Rajashthan middle order collapsed, but it was Ravindra Jadeja and Shane Warne with some late fireworks in the end, that took them to a respectable and challenging 140 for 7.The Chennai opening pair of Murali Vijay and Matthew Hayden, gave their team, what they really wanted. A solid start. Though, both batsmen didnt score big ones, but they kept their wickets along, but then Vijay was dismissed to give Rajasthan a much needed early wicket. They soon followed it with the wicket of Suresh Raina to get right back in the match. It was then left to Hayden and Badrinath to take them through and both the batsmen did exactly what the doctor ordered. Both batsmen took Chennai within striking distance to the target before which Hayden fell for 48. Badrinath though went onto finish the job and guided Chennai to a convincing 7 wicket win.
