Kayani leaves for Russia

LAHORE: Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani left today for Russia on one day official visit. During his visit, COAS is scheduled to meet the senior civil and military leadership of Russia.Earlier, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani was seen off at Lahore International Airport by Lieutenant General, Ejaz Ahmed Bakhshi, Corps Commander and other senior military officials.

Ashraf directs no load shedding during final match

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervaiz Ashraf Sunday directed that power load shedding should not be carried out during the final match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.He said every possible should be made to avoid load shedding even in the rural areas.While, Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) spokesman Aisha Arabi said the company has made every possible effort to avoid load shedding during the match, adding the company personnel are busy with repair work in areas where there is cable fault.

Forces pace towards Barikot area of Shamozai

SWAT: A police sub-inspector and his son have been abducted in Swat on Sunday. Also, the security forces continued advancing in tehsil Barikot area of Shamozai during Operation in Malakand Division.The curfew will remain relaxed till 8pm in various areas of Dir. According to sources, the unidentified miscreants abducted a sub-inspector Omar Ghani along with his son in Swat tehsil of Babozai area of Sangar.The security forces pounded on the hideouts of militants in tehsil Kabal areas of Tatano Bandai and Dadahara. And also they took control of the Kotali, after which they advanced towards Barikot area of Shamozai. The whole area is under clamp of curfew.The sources said there are seven bodies and an injured child present in Patrak area of Upper Dir. The reason of the murder could not ascertained as yet.The forces continued shelling in various areas of Maidan from Headquarter Taimergra; however, there is no report regarding loss of life as yet.According to Dir Media Center, the curfew will remained relaxed till 8pm in tehsil Maidan and Adenzi.
