26 troops martyred in copter crash in Orakzai Agency

PESHAWAR: Twenty-six army troops were martyred when a cargo helicopter of Pak Army crashed in Orakzai Agency on Friday.

Official sources have said that investigation into the tragic incident is being carried out.

According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the helicopter crashed in Orakzai Agency after developing a technical fault.

Windies and India to play 3rd ODI today

ST LUCIA: The third One-day International between the West Indies and India will be played here today.

The four-match series is level 1-1, after India won the high-scoring opening match by 20 runs last Friday at Sabina Park in Jamaica, and West Indies rebounded with a thumping eight-wicket victory two days later at the same venue.

However, victory in the third ODI will bring to the winners an unbeaten lead in the series.

India are expected to bring Abhishek Nayer in place of Ravindra Jadeja while the West Indies have decided to make no change in their team for the final two matches.

The final match of the 4-ODI series will be played on July 5.

President, PM chairing PPP think tank meeting

ISLAMABAD: A meeting of Pakistan People?s Party?s think tank is underway with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani in the chair here on Friday.

According to sources, the meeting is holding consultations on the political situation in the country and performance of the government.

The meeting is also discussing reshuffling of the federal cabinet, sources added.

Aamir Sohail issued notice for not attending ICC course

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sent a show-cause notice to director National Cricket Academy Aamir Sohail for not attending the course held in England.

Aamir Sohail did not attend the course and in place of himself sent his subordinate Ali Zia at the course.

On taking action, director HR Wasim Bari has issued the notice to Aamir Sohail for not attending the course and sending his subordinate to London without getting permission.

Rajasthan Royals calls Sohail Tanvir for exhibition match

LAHORE: Rajasthan Royals has called for Sohail Tanvir, the most successful bowler in the first edition of the Indian Premier League, to participate in an exhibition match next week.

Talking with Geo News, Sohail Tanvir said that he is very pleased to play again for Rajasthan Royals and hopes to be successful in displaying good performance.

The left-arm pacer said that he does not know about his package.

Sohail Tanvir will leave on Sunday for England where Rajasthan Royals will play an exhibition match against Middlesex on July 6.

Revenue generated from the match will be given to the British Asian Trust.

Peace pact between rival groups in DIK

DI KHAN: The rival groups have signed a peace agreement in Dera Ismail Khan, said Jamat-e-Islami Chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman on Friday.

?The groups will give the wanted people in police custody in the next ten days while the ceasefire has begun from today,? he said while addressing a press conference after chairing a Jirga meeting represented by the concerned parties here at Circuit House Dire Ismail Khan.

District officials, senior police officials and notables were also present at the Jirga meeting.

Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman said the police presented a list of wanted men during the meeting.

The implementation of the peace pact will be completed when the wanted men are handed in police custody, he said.
