Murder case filed against Sindh Home Minister

KARACHI: A murder case has been filed court orders against Sindh Home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza.

According to DIG East Karachi, a case has been registered at Sohrab Goth Police Station on charges of murder on the directive of court.

Sources said, TPO Gadap Town has also been nominated in the case. The court took the action on the application submitted after the killing of a worker of Sindh Tarraqi Pasand Party, sources added.

Williams sisters reach Wimbledon doubles final

LONDON: Venus and Serena Williams, who will contest the Wimbledon singles final for a fourth time on Saturday, reached the final of the women’’s doubles for a second successive year on Friday.
The three-time defending champions defeated top seeds Cara Black of Zimbabwe and America’’s Liezel Hueber 6-1, 6-2.
They will face either Spanish duo Virginia Ruano Pascual and Anabel Medina Garrigues or Australian pair Samantha Stosur and Rennae Stubbs in Sunday’’s final.
The Williams sisters were doubles champions here in 2000, 2002 and 2008.

Extremists target forces? copter: sources

HANGU: The extremists targeted a helicopter of security forces and there are reports of killings of four personnel, as the copter was destroyed in Orakzai Agency.

The government sources said that information regarding the staff and helicopter are being confirmed.

The extremists fired at the military helicopter in the Cheer Ferozkhel border area between Orakzai and Khyber Agencies.

PM should have his due rights: Nawaz

LONDON: Pakistan Muslim League-N Chief Nawaz Sharif Friday said the affairs of the country are being run on the same rules which were being followed by Pervez Musharraf led government and the Prime Minister is not enjoying the powers that he should be entitled to.

Addressing the party workers, the PML-N Chief said: ?Our intention is to set the matters right by cooperating with Pakistan People?s Party.?

He said, if he is given an opportunity, he would be ready to serve the country as prime minister.

Nawaz Sharif said presently the President is enjoying all the powers. It should be the Prime Minister who should have all his due powers, he added.

He said the Charter of Democracy (CoD), signed by PML-N and PPP, has being treated as nothing but a piece of paper.

?The murderers of Akbar Bugti could have been brought to justice had the CoD been implemented,? he regretted.
