ISLAMABAD: Minister for Food and Agriculture Nazar Muhammad Gondal stressed the need for increasing cooperation between Pakistan and Hungary in Agriculture sector.
The Minister was talking to Ambassador of Hungary Istav Darvasi who called on him here this after noon in his office.
The Minister said that Hungary could provide Pakistan with high yield sunflower seed as Hungary produces sunflower crop at larger area with high yielding hybrid seed.
The Minister said that exchange of experts experienced on oilseed; especially plant breeders, entomologist and agronomist can be very productive.
Gondal said that Pakistan could provide quality fruits like mango, apple and orange to Hungary and it can become an attractive market for Pakistan.
The Minister said that both countries have very cordial and friendly relations, which need to be further strengthened.
The ambassador said that trade between two countries should be increased and socio-cultural ties should also be strengthened through exchange of writers, students and scholars.

LAHORE: Rise in demand of electricity due to increase in temperature has caused the total power shortfall of the country to mount to over 3,600 MW.
PEPCO spokesman told Geo News the total demand of power has risen to 14,500 MW while the supply is only 11,400 MW.
Two units of Mangla power house will start supplying 220 MW of electricity which will help ease the shortfall, he said.

KARACHI: Raees Ahmed, father of a Pakistani woman Shumaila arrested in Saudi Arabia over charges of drugs smuggling, Friday said a three-member delegation constituted by the federal government will soon leave for Saudi Arabia.
The family of the arrested Pakistanis today staged a protest demonstration on the occasion of hearing of drug smuggling case at Karachi City Court.
The demonstrators were carrying banners with demands written on them.
Talking to Geo News, Raees said that after the meeting with Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik, the diplomatic efforts for the release of innocent Pakistanis behind bars in Saudi Arabia received a spur on the government level.
According to the counsel of the arrested Pakistanis, Javed Chattari Advocate, the details regarding the case of arrested accused Sarwat Hussain and Shafia, are being sent to Saudi Arabia after having them translated into Arabic.

LAHORE: As many as 669 gastro patients have been brought to different hospitals in various parts of Lahore, Geo News reported Friday.
According to Health Department, these patients include 415 children and 245 adults.
At least 82 patients were taken to Meo Hospital, 169 to General Hospital, 160 to Children Hospital, 86 to Services Hospital, 17 to Ganga Ram Hospital, 18 to Munshi Hospital and 11 patients were brought to Gharki and Shalimar hospitals each.
