Judiciary interprets anti-constitution laws: CJ

Addressing the lawyers here at Civil Court, he said the most important principle of Islam is justice.

The CJ maintained, ?The Supreme Court and other courts interpret those laws which stand in conflict with the constitution.?

All the judges are busy with providing justice and they will keep on doing so without being daunted, he maintained.

The CJ said the apex court can take notice of the violations of human rights, which have been given legal protection by the constitution.

It is the history of country that the judiciary has never been allowed to function independently; however, every institution has separate jurisdiction under constitution.

The CJ said the District and Session judge is bound to dispose of a case in six months regardless of its importance.

The CJ Chaudhry said the courts are facing the shortage of infrastructure and manpower; however, the government is cooperating on the issue.

A system of justice cannot be established without district judiciary, he said.
