Pakistan welcomes India?s readiness to talks: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Saturday said he discussed with his Indian counterpart matters including exchange of information on Mumbai attacks besides steps being taken to fight the war on terror.

He was briefing the media on his visit to Sharm el Sheikh where he attended Non-Aligned Movement summit and met with Indian PM Manmohan Singh.

The PM said he apprised the world nations of Pakistani stance on global recession.

He said in his meeting with the Indian counterpart, he discussed the composite dialogues, telling him it is the only way forward. Premier Manmohan?s willingness for the negotiations is welcomed.

?His readiness for the talks is a clear testimony of his wisdom and political understanding and he was very clear that he was ready to discuss all the issues between the two countries.?

PM Gilani said he also apprised his counterpart about the scourge of terror facing Pakistan.

Gilani said he talked to his Indian counterpart over Indian intrusion into Balochistan.

Shoaib Akhtar won?t be selected for ODI series in SL

LAHORE: Chairman interim selection committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Wasim Bari said that Shoaib Akhtar is not being considered for inclusion in the national team for One-day International series against Sri Lanka as he could not prove his match fitness.

While talking with Geo News before leaving for Sri Lanka, Wasim Bari said that fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar went through physical fitness and he did no give the match fitness.

He said that Shoaib Akhtar was invited to National Cricket Academy on his own request He gave physical fitness test but his match fitness cannot be assessed as he did not play any match.

Bari said that he would consult with the team management and captain during the third Test after which the list of 30 probable cricketers for the Champions Trophy would be provided to the ICC.

He said that Shoaib Akhtar would be considered for the Champions Trophy.

IDPs in Peshawar likely to return from July 21

PESHAWAR: Peshawar Government is mulling over starting the process of repatriation of IDPs in Peshawar from July 21.

DCO Peshawar Sahibzada Anis told Geo News that 823 families comprising 4,446 people are presently residing in Larma camp in Peshawar and over 39,000 families outside the camps have either taken refuge in schools or staying with their relatives.

He said there is no restriction on IDPs return from Peshawar on their own through private vehicles.
