FC troops called in to tame riots at Mach jail

QUETTA: Riots were erupted in Mach jail located in tehsil Bolan in protest of search operation against prisoners late on Thursday meanwhile, as many as 15 police officials were also taken hostage besides torching Rashan store and other goods in jail, Geo news reported.

The Frontier Corps (FC) troops have been called in following the eruption of riots to bring law and order situation under control, source said.

Jail administration told Geo news, prisoners launched protest which turned violent following search operation against detainees from police officials in Mach jail while at least 15 police officials were also taken hostage amid riots in jail.

The enraged prisoners set jail factory, rashan store and other goods on fire triggering anarchy on jail rooftop meanwhile, jail administration has declared emergency, calling in the Frontier Corps (FC) to bring situation under control, sources said.

Balochistan IG jail said he is monitoring the situation closely and hoped to have brought the situation under control shortly.
