Revenue Minister Ishaq defies police allegations

LAHORE: Punjab Minster for Revenue Haji Muhammad Ishaq, ruling out police accusations, said neither my supporters committed aerial firing nor did they abuse police.

Talking to Geo news, Haji Muhammad Ishaq said local people were marking celebrations on the inaugural ceremony of a road here late on Saturday when we were apprised what a police SHO tortured our supporters.

He said, following information, I came out of TMA office and asked SHO to release my supporters, as no aerial firing was being committed over there instead some local people were lighting firecrackers to observe jubilation.

?None of our supporters was wanted by police,? he claimed, accusing SHO to have been appointed by his political rivals for erection botheration in my ways.

It is beyond my status to scuffle an SHO police, he concluded.

SHO Bihar Hussain in his statement on the incident, told Geo news provincial minister?s supporters used abusive language including minister himself, tortured me and police driver brutally and tried to snatch our official guns.

He said one among his supporters was minister?s maternal son whose name was identified as Khalid.

Haji Muhammad Ishaq?s supporters abused me, slapped me also made many attempts to confiscate my official pistol, he maintained.

Jahangir Khan?s mother dies

KARACHI: Former world squash champion and Pakistan?s legendry figure Jahangir Khan?s mother Bibi Ayesha expired due to heart failure here this morning. She was 79 years of age.

Talking with Geo News from London, Jahangir Khan told that his mother was not suffering from any ailment. During Fajr prayer, she received a severe heart attack sue to which she passed away.

Jahangir Khan further told that he is returning home through the first available flight and then the namaz-e-janaza and burial of his mother will take place.

3 Pakistanis deported for traveling on fake documents

LAHORE: Three Pakistani persons traveling in Europe on fake documents were arrested here by the FIA officials on returning home after being deported.

The FIA officials said that among the persons deported from Dubai and Britain, Yousuf belongs to Gujranwala and Shaban to Sargodha while Qaisar is resident of Lahore.

According to the FIA, all three deported Pakistanis were shifted to Anti-Human Smuggling Cell after legal action was taken and the case was registered against them.

71,000 families return to Swat, Buner, Dir

MINGORA: The repatriation process of the Malakand IDPs is still underway as a total of 7582 families returned to their homes only on Saturday.

According to Emergency Response Unit, so far a total of 71,851 families have reached their homes in Buner, Swat and Dir.

It said 2,66000 families are still waiting to be repatriated. Out of these 36,000 families are in camps while the rest are outside.

According ERU, 14,000 families returned using government transport while 52,000 families traveled back on their own in private transport.

ISLAMABAD: President?s spokesman Farhatullah Babar has said that now Pervez Musharraf should stand on his own feet and should not hide himself behind thename and picture of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.

This has been said in a statement issued from the spokesman of the President that the claim made by Musharraf in his interview that if Benazir Bhutto would alive she would have let him remain the president is a pleasant desire of an ungraceful dictator.

Farhatullah Babar said that in the way Musharraf was thrown out of the President?s House was witnessed by the whole world and now he wants to get People?s support to save himself from the fate of dictators.

KSE witnessed positive numbers this week

KARACHI: Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) recorded some positive numbers this week as the benchmark KSE-100 Index closed 17 points up at 7,783.

The investors appeared cautious on delay in announcement of monetary policy by the State Bank of Pakistan.

The average volume this week stood at 180 million shares.

Cement sector remained in the lime light this week as maximum trade was recorded in DG Khan Cement and Lucky Cement.

KSE-30 Index gained 16 points to finish the week at 8,364.
