ISLAMABAD: Governor Punjab Salman Taseer and Federal Minister for Minority Affairs Shahbaz Bhatti called on President Asif Ali Zardari here at the Presidency on Monday and briefed him about Gojra incident.
Federal Minister for Minority Affairs, who was tasked to proceed to Gojra for solidarity with the victims of violence, presented preliminary report to the President.The Minister said that he along with Christian?s MPs, Church leaders and district administration visited the area and sympathized with the victims on behalf of the President.
The Minister said that they consoled and persuaded the protesting mob to end protest and get FIR registered against the attackers.
The Minister said that a Presidential relief package of Rs. 500,000 for each deceased and Rs. 300,000 for a family of each burnt house was also announced during the visit to Gojra.
The President said that the provincial government had already taken some measures and advised the Federal Minister Shahbaz Bhatti to work in coordination with the provincial government to restore peace and tranquility.
The President tasked the Federal Minister for Minority Affairs to again visit the Gojra tomorrow and remain there till the complete normalization of situation.
The President welcomed the judicial inquiry into the incident and said that in the light of the inquiry ordered and investigations made the culprits be brought to justice in accordance with the law.

Right after taking charge of his office, he continued to make gigantic claims pledging nation to overpower electricity crisis presently has heightened in country but now he seems to have turned away from his claims.
Raja Pervez Ashraf, when asked about overcoming electricity shortage in country outside Parliament House by Geo news, instead of reiterating his promise, he said why do you ask me same question every time?
Now, he is saying we hope to end electricity crisis by December 31, 2009.

ISLAMABAD: The full court meeting is in progress under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry here on Monday.
During meeting the CJP said no compromise will be made on the standard of verdicts on cases.
The meeting is reviewing the judicial policy for 2009 and formation of committee to monitor anti terrorism courts.
Fourteen judges are participating in the full court meeting. Justice Faqir Muhammad Khokhar and Justice Javed Buttar are not present in the meeting.
In the inaugural address of the meeting, the CJP said implementation of Judicial Policy-2009 will be made despite shortage of resources.
He said full attention will be paid to the disposal of cases so that people?s expectations could be met.
Justice Iftikahr Muhammad Chaudhry said a good number of cases have been disposed of since March 24, 2009. The number of pending cases has decreased, he noted.
He said it is the first full court meeting after the restoration of judiciary to the position of November 2, 2007.
