Notification to slash authorities of KCDG withdrawn

KARACHI: The Sindh Information Minister Shazia Muree on Wednesday said the demand of the local bodies election on Sindh level alone reflects negative frame of mind as the notification to slash the authorities of Karachi City District Government (KCGD), issued from Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, is going to be withdrawn.

Talking to media following the oath taking ceremony of Media Women Publisher Journalist Organization (MWPJO) here, she said the ask for holding local bodies election here in Sindh alone is had to understand.

She said Sindh province is a part of federation and local bodies elections in Sindh could not be held until the maintenance of peace across country and the stability of institutions.

The decision to withdraw notification issued from CM Sindh regarding the seizure of CDGK authorities was taken amid PPP and MQM Core Committee Meeting and it shall be implemented at all costs, she divulged.

Earlier, it was decided, amid the Core Committee Meeting of PPP and MQM with CM and Governor Sindh in chair, that all conflicting issues should be resolved through mutual understanding.

The directives were issued during the meeting here at Governor House, sources added.

Pakistan cannot participate in World Badminton C?ship

LAHORE: Players of the Pakistan badminton team cannot take part in the World Badminton Championship, to be held in India, due to their demotion in world ranking.

The World Badminton Championship will be held in Indian city of Hyderabad Deccan from August 10 to 16.

Senior vice president of Pakistan Badminton Federation Syed Naqi Mohsin told Geo News that ranking of Rizwan Azam and Mohammad Ateeq in doubles was 62 while ranking of Wajid Ali in singles was 106 but these players could not participate in any international contest due to non-availability of funds for the last five months due to which their ranking fell to 170 and 250, respectively and now they have become ineligible for taking part in the World Championship.

Judicial probe into Gojra incident goes underway

GOJRA: Justice Iqbal Hamiduddin and Additional and Sessions Judge Muzaffar Hussain Shah visited the Christian Colony Gojra in order to begin judicial inquiry into the recent tragic incident.

According to sources, the judges examined the burnt houses and met with the victims.

Father Shafiq apprised the judges about the condition.

As part of the inquiry, 450 people got their names along with phone numbers registered at the Additional and District Sessions Court Gojra.

Meanwhile, WAPDA restored the power supply to the area after installing 45 electric meters.

Government has also set up dispensary camp while NADRA mobile van is preparing national ID cards in the affected area.

Umar Gul, Razzaq suffer injury, won?t play ODIs against SL

COLOMBO: Fast bowler Umar Gul suffering injury in his ankle and Abdul Razzaq in his leg will not be playing the remaining matches of the ODI series against Sri Lanka.

Pakistan Cricket Team Coach, Intekhab Alam told Geo News that Umar Gul will not be playing ODIs against Sri Lanka nor will he participate in the Twenty20 match due to the injury.

Similarly, Abdul Razzaq is out of the ODI series against Sri Lanka due to the leg injury. He will, however, play the Twenty20 match if he recovers from the injury by then.

The fourth one day of the series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be played on August 7 and fifth ODI on August 9 while the T20 match will be played on August 12.

Ch Nisar says ”parliament is rubberstamp”

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) leader and PAC Chairman Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Wednesday urged Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to take up much-awaited vital decisions.

Addressing the National Assembly today, Chaudhry Nisar termed the Parliament as rubberstamp parliament, saying the parliament should not be allowed to be employed as rubberstamp entity.

He remarked if the Prime Minister did not take up the crucial decisions, then these steps will be taken up someone else.

The opposition leader said former President Pervez Musharraf should be tried for treason under Article-6 of the constitution.
