QUETA: The death toll in Quetta blast at Sariab Road rose to two, Geo News quoted police sources as saying Wednesday.
The exchange of fire is still in progress after the blast.
According to police sources, the blast was remote-controlled and explosives were rigged to a motorcycle parked near FC Check post that killed at least two men and injured two others.
The inured have been shifted to the hospital and the blast area has been taken in the security cordon. The number of fatalities may increase, the police sources said.
Geo News was told that some unidentified miscreants first hurled hand grenade onto the vehicle of security personnel.

KARACHI: Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC) has discovered new reserves of natural gas in Ghotki city of Sindh province.
According to a notice issued at Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE), the new reserves were discovered at Gadu Block-1 in Ghotki. Daily supply of 282,000 cf gas is expected to from this source after completion of the preliminary research.

LAHORE: The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has given approval to appoint a Cuban coach for the national boxers.
Coach Francisco Hernandes Roland, belonging to Cuba, will arrive in Pakistan next month.
Spokesman of Pakistan Boxing Federation told that the PSB contacted the Cuban coach for the preparations of the SAF Games, the Commonwealth Games and the Olympic Qualifiers and signed a contract with him after obtaining an NOC for signing agreement with the PSB.
The spokesman said that coach Francisco Hernandes Roland who is working as assistant coach with the Cuban team will come to Pakistan in the first week of September, just after the World Boxing Championship in Italy, and start training Pakistani boxers here.

ISLAMABAD: The British High Commission refused to issue visas to the Pakistan blind cricket team after which its tour of England has been cancelled.
Chairman Pakistan Blind Cricket Council Syed Sultan Shah told Geo News that the Pakistan blind cricket team had to go to England for playing three one-dayers and a Twenty20 match for which requests were given for visas to the British High Commission on July 8.
However, the British High Commission returned the passports on Tuesday saying that the Pakistan blind cricket team does not meet the required merit.
Sultan Shah said that the team has earlier made tours of various countries including England and not issuing visas to it is disappointing.

COLOMBO: Pakistan set a winning target of 173 runs for Sri Lanka in the only Twenty20 International here at the Premadasa Stadium on Wednesday.
Winning the toss, Pakistan?s new captain Shahid Afridi elected to bat and hit himself s magnificent half-century to help his team reach 172-5 in the allotted 20 overs.
Afridi made 50 from 37 balls with four fours and two sixes. He was well supported by opener Imran Nazir (40 off 28 balls with five fours and a six) and Umar Akmal (30 off 20 balls with four fours).
For Sri Lanka, Thilan Thushara claimed two wickets for 37 while Angelo Mathews, Lasith Malinga and Ruwan Kulasekara took one wicket each.
The tour is almost done and Sri Lanka and Pakistan are playing their last fixture with a Twenty20 game in Colombo.
The two teams last met in this format in the final of the ICC World Twenty20 when Pakistan emerged victorious.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Industries and Production Mian Manzoor Wattoo said the negotiations with the mill owners are underway to end the sugar crisis, Geo News reported Wednesday.
Some mill owners are not providing the sugar to Trading Corporation of Pakistan, he said.
The government has signed a bargain of 240,000 tonnes of sugar at the rate of Rs25/kg, he informed.
He said hoarding is the main cause of recent sugar crisis, adding the 2-kg bags of sugar would be supplied to Friday and Sunday bazaars.
