KARACHI: Faisalabad, Larkana and Lahore won their matches while the match between Karachi and Sialkot ended in a draw in the Junior Super Hockey League here at the Hockey Club of Pakistan stadium.
Faisalabad defeated Islamabad 2-1. Taufiq and Hasan scored one goal each for Faislabad while Khalid made the solitary goal for Islamabad.
The match between Karachi and Sialkot proved interesting and both teams continuously attacked each other as the match ended in a draw 3-3.
For Karachi, Al-e-Imran, Zubair Ahmed and Mohammad Ali netted one goal each while Khalid, Adnan and Umair scored one goal each for Sialkot.

LAHORE: Governor Punjab Salmaan Taseer has said that only the provincial governors are competent to make recommendations for the appointments of judges and that Chief Minister has no authority in this regard.
After a ceremony held at Aitchison College, Lahore on Monday, when mediamen asked Taseer to comment on the Punjab government?s statement in which it claimed that governor is not the ?king of jungle? in the process of judges? appointments, and that he is bound to seek Chief Minister?s advice on the matter, he replied, ?No one is the ?king of jungle?, and the Governor is working under the Law and Constitution.
?Under the Constitution only the Governor has power to make recommendations in connection with judges appointments.? A similar process has been adopted for theses appointments in all the four provinces, he added.
Meanwhile, addressing the ceremony the Punjab Governor said Pakistani citizens are serving on key posts across the world including NASA, the US space agency.

LAHORE: The verdict to dissolve the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has been challenged in Supreme Court (SC) on Monday.
According to sources, ex-judges Ramazan Chaudhry, Syed Intikhab and Mohammad Iqbal filed the petition in SC to challenge the ruling on the dissolution of Islamabad High Court.
In the appeal the petitioners said the verdict does not fulfill all the legal requirements.
They said Islamabad High Court settled 7,500 cases in the period of one year.

SWAT: After the lapse of one year, a three-day polio vaccination campaign began in Swat today, in which children up to five years of age will be administered polio drops.
Deputy Director EPI Doctor Mujahid Hussain told Geo News Monday, due to the law and order situation in Swat children could not be vaccinated here for one year; however after establishment of peace in the region polio campaign has been started across Swat which will continue till September 9.
According to Dr. Mujahid more than 17,35,300 children will be administered polio drops during the three-day campaign.
In this regard 4,718 teams have been organised, he added.
