India seeks Pak passage way for freight train service

NEW DELHI: India has sent an application in writing to Pakistan seeking permission for a passage way to start a freight train service from India to middle east and Europe via Iran and Turkey.

Pakistan has forwarded the application to the Foreign Office for necessary action.

Talking to Geo News the Federal Minister for Railways Ghulam Ahmed Bilour said Bangladesh has also made a similar request and that both the countries are seeking passage way for freight trains. India?s request has been sent to the Foreign Office for necessary action, he added.

Three injured in Hangu suicide blast

HANGU: A suicide bomber blew himself up near near Doaba police station injuring 3 persons including policemen in here on Saturday.

The police spotted a suspicious man during Iftar time near Doaba police station and tried to stop him. The move made him baffled and he blew himself up, injuring three people including two policemen, police said.

The injured were shifted to district headquarter hospital.

Severed body parts of the suicide bomber including legs and other parts were collected from the site of the blast.

Police said the bomber wanted to enter Doaba police station but his attempt was successfully foiled by the police.

Pakistan?ll easily qualify for hockey World Cup: Shafiq

KARACHI: Pakistan hockey selection committee member Shafiq Ahmed has expressed hope that the national team would easily qualify for the World Cup.

He said that the series against European teams before the World Cup Qualifiers would prove helpful in preparations of the team.

In a talk with Geo News in Karachi, Shafiq Ahmed said that the selection committee selected the team of the best available players for the World Cup Qualifiers.

He said that the team management has also an option of playing four players who are taking part in the European League and it is therefore being hoped that the ?green shirts? would make their place in the world Cup by winning this event easily.

Replying to a question, Shafiq said that the cool weather of France would not create problems for the players of Pakistan team.

He further said that the series against France and Belgium before the World Cup Qualifiers would prove very much helpful for Pakistan.
