BARA: Security forces killed 8 militants including a commander, Nawaz, during an operation in Kamar Khel area of Tehsil Bara while a security men was also martyred.
According to FC media cell, a fierce clash between security forces and militants occurred here in which 8 militants were killed including a commander, Nawaz.
It said the body of the commander has been handed over to political administration.
Security forces have cleared Narewal area of militants and recovered heavy arms during the operation.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Ministry has announced public holidays on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr from September 20 to 22 while summary of observing holiday on September 23 has been forwarded to the Prime Minister.
Talking to Geo News, Interior Ministry officials said Eid holiday schedule for three days from September 20 to 22 has been finalized while the decision will be made by the Prime Minister regarding declaration of holiday on Wednesday in case of Eid falling on Tuesday. A summary in this regard has being sent to the PM.
The official notification of Eid holidays will be issued in the next two to three days, the officials said.

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas (KANA), Qamar Zaman Kaira would take oath as Acting Governor of Northern Areas on Tuesday (Sept 15) in Gilgit.
A formal notification for his nomination as Acting Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan was issued on Saturday. Prominent figures from other parts of Pakistan and Northern Areas (Gilgit-Baltistan) would attend the oath-taking ceremony.
Chief Judge of the Supreme Appellate Court would administer oath to the successive governor-designate Qamar Zaman Kaira as new Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan. The Federal Cabinet on August 29 had approved Gilgit-Baltistan Empowerment and Self Governance Order 2009, aimed at giving it full internal autonomy besides changing its nomenclature to Gilgit-Baltistan.
President Asif Ali Zardari on September 7 signed the Gilgit-Baltistan Empowerment and Self-Governance Order 2009.
It may be mentioned that a high-powered Committee under the chairmanship of Minister for Kashmir and Northern Areas Qamar Zaman Kaira prepared the reforms package to provide autonomy to the area. The approved Order will be sent to President Asif Ali Zardari for final consent.
Kaira would be the only Federal Minister for KANA who would become Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan as in future the two offices would be separated.
Kaira has been active supporter of changing the status of Northern Areas and granting the people of the area their rights. He as a Minister of Kashmir and Northern Areas made untiring efforts for bringing about change in lives of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan. Keeping in mind his effort the Federal Government has named him as first Governor of the area.
Qamar Zaman Kaira, born on January 5, 1960 in district Gujrat emerged as a vocal and prominent student leader, and he was elected president student union in Federal Government College Gujrat.
He entered politics by joining Pakistan Peoples Party. Qamar Zaman was always known as one to raise his voice for freedom of speech and democracy during the time of martial law in the country.
Due to relentless work for welfare of the people of his constituency, he was elected Member National Assembly on PPP ticket in 2002 and served as Member Public Accounts Committee, National Assembly. He also remained Chairman Standing Committee SAFRON. After the PPP came to power in 2008 elections,he was assigned the responsibilities of the Ministry of KANA. In March 2009 he was also given charge of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
