Saudi-released family accorded warm welcome in Karachi

KARACHI: The Saudi-released family from Saudi Arabia has been accorded warm welcome here at PAF Faisal Airbase in Karachi late on Saturday night, Geo news reported.

CM Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and MQM leader Dr. Farooq Sattar are also present on the occasion.

Highly emotional scenes are being witnessed at Faisal Airbase here while the mother of the released persons, who waited for her children for no less than 4 months, have burst into tears on the occasion, sources said.

The flower petals were also showered on them besides presentation of garlands while, following the on going reception, they will be sent to their homes where their family members have been waiting for them impatiently.

Australian HC meets Rehman Malik

ISLAMABAD: Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Timothy Spencer George Saturday called on Interior Minister Rehman Malik here at the Ministry of Interior.

The two sides discussed matters of mutual interest and expressed the view that both the countries value their relations with each other.

They said that the cooperation between the two countries in different fields will further strengthen the ties between them. The Australian High Commissioner appreciated the efforts of Pakistan government in fighting terrorism.

Islamabad police recover abducted trader

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police Saturday recovered a trader kidnapped from the federal capital.

A Islamabad police party headed by DIG Operations Bin Yamin raided a place in Peshawar and arrested three miscreants.

The trader, Amir Cheema was kidnapped from Islamabad on September 16 and his kidnapper demanded Rs250 million as ransom.

ECP completes filing of nominations for by-polls

LAHORE: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has completed filing of nomination papers for by-polls.

A total of 60 candidates belonging to various political parties filed papers to contest by-elections for NA 123.

According to the Returning Officer for NA 123, the scrutiny of papers will be done on October 5 and 7.

A lot of activity was seen at the ECP office on Saturday - the last day for filing the nominations.

Besides Pakistan Muslim League-N Chief Nawaz Sharif, five other members of his party filed nominations.
