KARACHI: Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) witnessed fresh buying worth $235 million by foreign investors during the first quarterly in the current fiscal year, Geo News reported Saturday.
According to statistics issued by National Clearing and Settlement Company, scrips worth $123 million were sold by the foreign investors during the first quarterly last year at Karachi stock market.
According to world analysts, the Pakistani stock market stands out in comparison with Asian countries; while, the prices of companies? scrips stand at 50 percent discount which acts as catalyst for the foreign investors.

WASHINGTON: Newly anointed Pakistani Taliban chief Hakimullah Mehsud may have been killed recently during clashes with a rival faction, a senior US counterterrorism official said Saturday.
“There’’s reason to believe that Hakimullah may have died recently — perhaps as the result of factional in-fighting within the Pakistani Taliban,” the official told a foreign news agency, noting the warlord’’s death has yet to be definitively confirmed.
Hakimullah was tapped to lead the group after his predecessor, Baitullah Mehsud, was killed by a missile fired from a CIA-operated drone aircraft on August 5.

RAWALPINDI: The security forces continued search and clearance operations in Swat and Malakand during the last 24 hours.
According to a press released issued here by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday, at least five terrorists voluntarily surrendered to security forces in Barshaur and Kuz Bamakhela near Matta.
Another five terrorists voluntarily surrendered to security forces in Matta and Sambat. In Alamganj also, two terrorists surrendered to the forces.
A delegation of ICRC headed by Mr Etiennc Kuster facilitated by security forces visited Maidan area of Dir and distributed 50 Kgs fertilizer and 2 kgs winter crop seed to 27,000 families.

JOHANNESBURG: Pakistan made 233 runs for the loss of nine wickets against New Zealand in the second semi-finals of the ICC Champions Trophy here at the New Wanderers Stadium on Saturday.
Winning the toss, Pakistan captain Younis Khan decided to bat and set a target of 234 runs for the Black Caps on a wicket which seemed rather difficult to bat.
The Kiwi bowlers bowled very well and fielders fielded superbly under the captaincy of Daniel Vettori.
Ian Butler captured four wickets for 44 and Vettori claimed three for 43 while opening bowlers Kyle Mills and Shane Bond took one wicket each.

PESHAWAR: The NWFP government has prepared Damages Assessment Report on Malakand division as part of the strategy for rehabilitation and reconstruction of the battle afflicted area.
The report has been endorsed by international financial institutions including Asian Development Bank.

DI KHAN: The man whipping a girl publicly in Swat, as shown in a video footage on media some months ago, has been arrested.
Nine suspects were nabbed from Dera Ismail Khan a few days ago including Amin alias Chhota Aftab, source said. Police said during investigation it was found that he is the same man whipping the Swat girl, as shown in the footage.
He is said to hail from Swat and is not even the relative of the girl he whipped.
Chhota Aftab was shifted from DI Khan eight days ago.
