ISLAMABAD: Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman has said in connection with the Kerry-Lugar that Parliament should ?defend? Pakistan Army.
Talking to media here on Wednesday, the JUI Chief said the Bill could be passed by the Parliament in its existing form.
He said Kerry-Lugar Bill will open the door for foreign interference in the country?s affairs.

ISLAMABAD: The participants were given a comprehensive briefing on the current security situation in the country and the region at the 122nd Corps Commanders Conference held at General Headquarters on Wednesday.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani chaired the day long meeting.
COAS in his opening remarks dilated upon various issues related to national security and impending challenges faced by the country. He reiterated that Pakistan is a sovereign state and has all the rights to analyse and respond to the threat in accordance with her own national interests.
Kerry Lugar bill also came under discussion during the conference. The forum expressed serious concern regarding clauses impacting on National Security. A formal input is being provided to the Government. However, in the considered view of the forum, it is the Parliament, that represents the will of the people of Pakistan, which would deliberate on the issue, enabling the Government to develop a National response.
COAS in his concluding remarks reiterated that Pakistan stands committed to global and regional peace, and wishes to live in harmony with her neighbours.

PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court (PHC) has issued notice to NWFP government over repeatedly use of word Pakhtunkhwa to call the name of province instead of NWFP, Geo news reported on Wednesday.
According to sources, PHC bench comprising Justice Shahjahan and Justice Mazhar-ul-Haq issued notice in response to petition field from former Deputy Speaker Akramullah Shahid whereby the petitioner sated the provincial government used the word Pakhtunkhwa in official advertisement published in newspapers on August 14 and September 6.
Subsequently, the two-member PHC bench issued notices to Chief Secretary NWFP, Secretary of Law and Secretary Forests, sources said.
The petitioner also stated that the name of the NWFP province has not changed thus far so it is illegitimate and illegal to call province ?Pakhtunkhwa?.
