ISLAMABAD: The president of Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said the Kerry-Lugar bill has brought triumph for India which the nation cannot accept in its current form, Geo news reported on Wednesday.
Addressing PML-Q?s parliamentary party here, he said points on corruption have been left out of the bill but there still remained some controversial points in regard to army, nuclear programme and security agencies.
He predicted that the entire nation will stand united in favour of national sovereignty and defense of country.
Accepting K-L bill will be akin to consider Quetta and Mureed Kay the strongholds of militancy, he revealed, informing the meeting that his party will raise strong voice against the bill.

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly has commenced debating Kerry-Lugar bill late on Wednesday evening, Geo news reported.
The Leader of Opposition in lower house Chaudhry Nisar Ahmed started debate on the bill meanwhile, Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Babar Awan informed House that PM Gilani has advised Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, currently on US visit, to provide assembly details on the controversial points of bill.
He said all the points on the K-L bill will be thoroughly reviewed and all of its recommendations will be watchfully considered.

WASHINGTON: Pakistan’’s top brass is united in the battle against Islamic extremists, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said, playing down accounts that intelligence elements were on the other side.
Qureshi, on a visit to Washington, said Pakistan’’s year-old civilian government has been able to control the powerful military and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency.
“I think they”re on board,” Qureshi said in an interview aired late Tuesday on public broadcaster PBS’’s “Charlie Rose Show.”
“I think the present leadership in the ISI, the present army chief of Pakistan, are very clear that these elements are no friends of Pakistan,” Qureshi said of Islamic extremists.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani has said that the President and Chief of Army Staff have been taken into confidence on Kerry-Lugar Bill.
Taking part in debate on Kerry-Lugar Bill in the National Assembly, the Prime Minister said Pakistan is not bound to comply with the conditions laid down in Kerry-Lugar Bill.
He said efforts will be made to achieve consensus in case of reservations by the Army or the Parliament. The decision of the Parliament will be supreme, he added.
The Prime Minister said that the Foreign Minister has been asked to return from the US to brief the Parliament on Kerry-Lugar Bill.
He said Presler and Brown amendments were never brought before the Parliament. It is a pleasant change that Kerry-Lugar Bill is being discussed in the Parliament, he said.
Premier Gilani said it is the government, which made decisions relating to the armed forces in the past, and it will continue to do so in future.
?No one will provided access to the nuclear assets of Pakistan,? he asserted.
The Prime Minister said the US President Barack Obama has not sighed the Kerry-Lugar Bill and that he (Obama) is also hearing the reservations being voiced in Pakistan?s Parliament.
He said the Army is supportive of the democracy and it is functioning under the civilian government.
