PCB governing board?s important meeting tomorrow

LAHORE: An important meeting of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)?s governing board will be held tomorrow in Lahore.

This meeting, to be presided over by chairman PCB Ijaz Butt, will be very important in view of the present situation of Pakistan cricket.

As per the agenda of the meeting, criticism from some members of the governing body, approval of the PCB?s code of conduct, budget, domestic and international cricket activities, audit report, approval of new auditor?s appointment and new chief election commisioner?s posting will be discussed.

Sources said that the meeting agenda does not include captain Younis Khan?s resignation.

Chairman Ijaz Butt said that he has discretionary powers of appointing the captain and thus he may consult with the governing board regarding this decision.

Besides, a resolution may be moved in the meeting for sacking of Wasim Bari.

100,000 SWA migrants registered: UN

ISLAMABAD: Registration of 100,000 displaced persons from South Waziristan has been completed, according to United Nations Organization.

UNO sources said that 5,000 people have been migrating each day from South Waziristan since operation Rah-e-Nijat has begun.

The representative of UNO?s Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) told Geo News that registration of displaced persons is in progress at Tank and D.I. Khan and migrants are being provided with food and other essentials.

He said, in case of need, tents will also be fixed for the affectees with the help of local government.

Panic selling at KSE; Index plunges by 427 points

KARACHI: The benchmark KSE-100 Index took a nosedive Monday as Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) witnessed panic selling in view of the deteriorating law and order situation in the country.

The Index plummeted by 427 points to close at 9,411 on the first trading of the week.

Today?s trade began in the positive zone but later reports of selling by foreign investors in banking and fertilizer sectors turned the numbers red.

Jehangir Siddiqui Global market said that market capitalization at KSE decreased by 4.3 per cent which is the lowest since February 25 this year.

Trade volume was recorded at 210 million shares today.

Arif Habib Securities was today?s volume leader which gained paisas 91 to close at Rs49.50.

Market analysts see a further correction of 400 to 500 points in the coming sessions.
