LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi Friday said N-League is responsible for the economic devastation in Punjab.
Addressing the parliamentary party in Lahore, he said now the cultivators of sugarcane would weep followed by the paddy farmers, adding previously the queues for atta took the lives of poor people; now, the buyers of sugar are being baton-charged.
The PML-Q leaders said the Assemblies are being turned into an arena to take the people?s attention off from inflation, lawlessness and unemployment; but, the people can no more be misled and beguiled.
The farmers spending heavy amounts of money on the seeds and fertilizers, are not being paid back even for their hard work, adding the people would not forgive those who pushed the prosperous province under debt and would force them to pay off in full.

ISLAMABAD: Presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar Friday clarified that the President has not given any deadline for the repeal of notorious clauses of the Constitution.
Talking to Geo News here, Farhatullah Babar said the President has, on more than one occasion, talked about the abolition of disputed clauses from the Constition. He (President) has said both inside and outside the Parliament, he added.
He said the Parliamentary committee is working on the repeal of the disputed clauses and that the annulment can take place either before or after the month of March.

DI KHAN: The migration of displaced persons to Dera Ismail Khan and Tank from conflict-affected South Wazristan continues while arrangements have been made to commence classes for women in arts centre from tomorrow.
Free treatments have so far been provided to over 3,000 affectees at central relief camp.
The educational activities for children of IDPs are being undertaken in DI Khan and Tank while technical education is being imparted to over 300 persons in technical centre set up in Dera Sports Stadium.

ISLAMABAD: The Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional Reforms (PCCR) agreed upon the amendments regarding concurrent list of the Constitution especially provincially autonomy.
This consensus was achieved in the meeting held here with Senator Raza Rabbani in chair.
Talking to media after the meeting, Raza Rabbani said the headway on all the clauses is in progress with consensus; however, no timeframe could be given for tabling in the Parliament the draft of the Constitutional Reforms.
According to sources, the next meeting would mull over the modus operandi for giving provincial autonomy.

VALENCIA, Spain: Top seed Andy Murray survived a scare before advancing to the quarter-finals of the Valencia Open on Thursday when he defeated Argentina’’s Leonardo Mayer 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
The world number four from Britain, who is returning from a six-week wrist injury lay-off, looked set for a comfortable victory as he broke serve in the seventh game of the first set to seal a one-set lead.
But world number 64 Mayer hit back, breaking serve twice as he raced to a 5-0 lead in the second set. Murray was able to recover one of the breaks, but could not prevent the Argentine from levelling the match.
The experience of Murray eventually told in the third set as he broke serve in the sixth game to open up a 4-2 lead before going on to close out victory with his eighth ace after two hours and 22 minutes.
Second seed Nikolay Davydenko and fourth seed Fernando Verdasco, both strong contenders to join Murray at the ATP World Tour Finals in London later this month, cruised into the quarter-finals.
Davydenko knocked out Juan Monaco of Argentina 6-3, 7-5 while Verdasco defeated Serbian Janko Tipsarevic 6-3, 6-3.

ABU DHABI: Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Babar Khan Ghauri Friday said MQM?s opposing NRO should not be construed as antagonism against PPP-led government.
Talking to Geo News here, Babar Ghauri said MQM, despite being part of the government, had also opposed Nizam-e-Adl Regulation. ?Therefore, NRO?s opposition does not at all mean that MQM is opposing the PPP-led government,? he added.
To a question, he said MQM did not make any complaint in connection with the provincial government. ?The talks only focused on the challenges being faced by Pakistan and the current political scenario.?
