5 to 6 hour load-shedding in Karachi

KARACHI: Power load-shedding of up to 5 to 6 hour is being undertaken in the city, as the adherence of Karachi Electric Supply Company to its policy of saving capital and not purchasing furnace oil continues to make the citizens suffer.

KESC is receiving its complete share of power supply from WAPDA and KANUPP, but it is not operating its generation plants including Bin Qasim Thermal Plant at their full capacity. The prime reason for this is KESC?s pursuance of policy on saving its capital reserves, sources said.

KESC is trying to do without purchasing furnace oil and as a result depending only on the power supply from WAPDA and generation of cheap electricity using gas.

ANP achieving goals: Bashir Bilour

PESHAWAR: NWFP Senior Minister Bashir Ahmad Bilour said that the Prime Minister’’s announcement for payment of Rs. 110 billion in the head of hydel net profit and acknowledgement of the principled stand of the ANP on the NFC award is not only historic achievement of the party but crystal clear proof of its sincere efforts to solve issues of vital national interest.

He said that instead of prolonging the NFC and net hydel profit issues the ANP government is moving ahead successfully to achieve these goals due to its” commitment to the cause.

Talking to a joint delegation of ANP workers and elite of Zargarabad, Beribagh, Yakatoot and some other localities of his constituency PF-3 Peshawar City that called on him at his office here on Saturday, he said that the ANP government did not believe in politics of plots, permits and other personal benefits but always fought for the rights of the masses and even sacrificed ministerial slots for the principled politics.

He said in 1973 the center started payment of Rs. 6 billion per annum till decision on HNP due to hectic efforts of our Rehber-e-Tehrik Khan Abdul Wali Khan adding that this capped amount could not be increased by any subsequent government.

Bashir Bilour reminded that two Federal Ministers of ANP including Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour and Azam Khan Hoti had quit Cabinet due to non acceptance of our Provincial rights including increase in the capped amount of Rs. 6 billion.

Bashir Bilour vowed that political acumen and efforts of our party chief Asfandyar Wali Khan again bore fruit and this Province was started paying of its Rs. 110 billion HNP outstanding arrears for which we are thankful to the PM and entire federal govt. that he said would greatly contribute in improving the worsening economy of this terror hit province.

He agreed to the argument of the party workers that Rs. 110 billion was not the actual figure of the HNP outstanding arrears as thought by the ANP leadership but this amount is Rs. 157 billion as per AGN Qazi Formula till 2005.

However, he said that we did not want to create issues but to solve it one by one and provide immediate relief to our poor masses. He assured that centre would soon be approached for uncapping the Rs. 6 billion HNP per annum and enhancing it to at least Rs 30 billion per annum.

Senior Minister assured early resolution of the grievances of the delegation and issued on the spot directives on some of them.
