JAMSHORO: Sindh Minister for Education Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq Sunday said that out of 7,000 closed schools 3,000 have been made functional while 6,000 teachers are being hired for the rest of the schools.
Talking to media during his visit to Sindh University Jamshoro where pre-entry test was underway, the Minister said 1,700 schools are still being used as ?Autaqs? by Waderas.
He said 7,700 schools were closed across the province when he took over the charge of his present post. He said 3,000 schools have been functional after appointment of teachers.

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan People?s Party (PPP) leader Naheed Khan said that the President Asif Ali Zardari should differentiate friend from foe, and that the PPP workers reject the way party is being run.

Naheed Khan and Safdar Abbasi expressed these views while talking to media here on Sunday.
Senator Abbasi said National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) is not the first law of its kind to have come before us. He said the present situation would have been avoided had the government ratified Article-270 AAA.
Abbasi said the President and the party is facing allegations because of NRO?s presentation in the Parliament without prior thought.

ISLAMABAD: Police killed an alleged terrorists at a police check post in Sector F-11, foiling a suicide attack attempt here on Sunday, IG police Islamabad said.
Police has claimed to have recovered a suicide jacket which was on the body of the attacker.
According to IG Islamabad, the suicide attacker dismounted from a double cabin vehicle with tinted glasses and chanted ?Allahu Akbar? near a police check post in Sector F-11. The police personnel present there sprung to action killed him with fire on his head, he said.
However, he said, the three helpers of the bomber managed to escape from the scene while the bomb disposal squad has successfully defused the explosives found in the suicide jacket.
