NWFP not to participate in NFC meeting

PESHAWAR: Government of NWFP has decided not to take part in the next meeting of National Finance Commission (NFC) scheduled to be held in Karachi on November 18, said the government sources on Saturday.

The NWFP government has not yet received the payment of Rs10 billion as announced by the Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani to clear the electricity dues and this has prompted the NWFP government?s decision to stay out of the next NFC meeting in Karachi, source said.

Another reason for the decision is that the NWFP government had demanded of the federation in the previous meetings of NFC to increase by 5 percent the amount of money provided for tackling terrorism but so far there is no progress in this regard, source said.

Imran Khan takes rest from politics

LAHORE: Imran Khan, chairman of Tehreek-e-Insaf has stated that he has temporarily limited his political activities until he fully recovers his health after a surgery, Geo News reported Saturday.

Khan spoke with the media on his release from the hospital. He thanked the nation via media for all the support and said that he owes his health recovery to people?s prayers.

Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman said that he has undergone a major surgery, the stitches are still fresh and that complete recovery of his health will take some time.

Govt serious in resolving Balochistan issues: Malik

ISLAMABAD: A delegation of Balochistan led by Mir Ahmedan Bugti, an MNA called on Minister for Interior Rehman Malik here on Saturday and discussed various issues pertaining to the province.

The delegation assured full cooperation to the minister in further improving law and order of Balochistan.

The minister said the government was taking concrete steps for resolving problems of Balochistan and serious in ensuring its prosperity and development.

PML-Q accepts G-B poll results

LAHORE: Chaudhry Shujaat, President of Pakistan Muslim Leagu-Q Saturday stated that despite the reported rigging, his party has decided to accept Gilgit-Baltistan poll results.

Addressing the party leaders at his residence here, Chaudhry Shujaat said that PML-Q?s role in G-B government will be decided after consultations with the newly elected party representatives in G-B legislative assembly.

?In my personal view a national/coalition government should be formed in G-B due to the susceptibility of the region,? he said, adding, it will convey a positive message to the international community.
