22 govt. corporations running in deficit: Manzoor

KARACHI: Federal Minister for Industries and Production Mian Manzoor Watto said Monday as many as 22 semi-government business corporations and organizations are working under deficit and called for support of private sector for their restoration, Geo news reported.

In a gathering here in metropolis, Manzoor Watto said total 22 government business corporations are working in deficit including Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM).

He asked the private sectors to come forward and extend their support for the restoration of those organizations.

Government is planning to sell out the shares of those corporations to private sectors besides, inclusion of private sectors in their board of directors.

SLanka ask India to bat in first one-dayer

RAJKOT: Sri Lanka’’s captain Kumar Sangakkara won the toss and sent India in to bat in the first one-day international here on Tuesday.

Both teams were hit by injuries at the start of the five-match series, with India missing explosive batsman Yuvraj Singh and Sri Lanka being without the services of Muttiah Muralitharan and Lasith Malinga.

16 Indian fishermen held to encroach Pak sea limits

KARACHI: Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) has arrested as many as 16 Indian fishermen over charges of encroaching Pakistan sea limits on Tuesday morning, Geo news reported.

According to PMSA sources, four ferries have also been taken under custody meanwhile, nabbed fishermen have been handed over to Karachi Docks Police.

Also, police claimed to have registered cases against them and will bring before court to seek their remand.
