MANGORA: Muslim League (Q) NWFP President Ameer Muqam demanded the government to conduct immediate local body election in Malakand Division.
During a press conference in Sangota, Mangora, he said PML-Q would contest NWFP by-election for the constituency PF-83, fell vacant due to the demise of Dr. Shamsher Khan.
He said PML-Q would not allow Awami National Party (ANP) to run away from holding the elections.
?The foreign aid, given to rebuild Swat, should be used in the Valley?, Muqam urged the government.
To a question, he said Pervez Musharraf and Benazir Bhutto are responsible for NRO.

HAVELI LAKHA: The Sui Northern Gas Company (SNGC) has suspended gas supply to CNG station of Federal Minister Mian Manzoor Wattoo.
SNGC?s GM Lahore region said the gas supply is suspended over violation of load shedding.
According to sources, Federal Minister?s gunmen manhandled the SNGC staff after they reached to sever the connection on complains of noncompliance.
After getting the information about this incident, GM Lahore region informed the high-ups and suspended station?s connection.
GM said sale of GNG is banned during load shedding and strict actions would be taken on noncompliance while gas supply will not be resumed for 10 days and violator can also be fined.

MULTAN: Five people died in Sharifpura area of Multan over consumption of toxic liquor.
According to sources, 50-year-old Muhammad Mushtaq, 30-year-old Rafiq and 36-year-old Gogi consumed poisonous alcohol after which they fell ill. Their families, afraid of police and humiliation, took them to a private hospital, where none could recover.
One of the deceased Mushtaq was the father of four children.
While the police have no information whatsoever about the incident.

HOBART: Wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal cracked a brisk century to help Pakistan reach a big score against Tasmania on the second day of their tour game here on Sunday.
Later, Pakistani bowlers reduced Tasmania to 132 runs for six wickets, as the local side is still trailing by 305 runs.
After Salman Butt’’s solid 153 on Saturday, Akmal increased the pace with 109 off 81 balls as the tourists reached 437 in their first innings.
He was the last man out after hitting three sixes and 17 fours.
The Pakistanis resumed at 270 for four but Umar Akmal (27) and Fawad Alam (33) could only make starts and the best of the bottom four was Umar Gul’’s five.
Off-spinner Jason Krejza took three for 162 off 28.4 overs.
The Pakistani bowlers enjoyed the conditions with the ball, with Mohammad Aamer striking two early blows in his spell, and when Abdur Rauf chipped in with two of his own Tasmania were 45 for four.
George Bailey steadied things with 50 before being lbw to Saeed Ajmal (two for 56), who had already picked up Tim Paine for 16.
Aamer finished with two for 18 off 10 overs while Rauf had two for 21 off 12 as they made life hard for the locals.
The three-day game, which finishes on Monday, has been a strong hit-out for the tourists ahead of the opening Test against Australia in Melbourne on Boxing Day.

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Speaker of National Assembly, Faisal Karim Kundi, on Sunday said that besides politicians, the media should also talk about the accountability of 8000 other people who had benefited under the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO).
Speaking at the closing ceremony of a teachers? training workshop here, Kundi said the government accepts and respects Supreme Court?s judgement on the NRO.
Apart from politicians, bureaucratese and people from all walk of life had also benefited under the controversial ordinance. However, he said that media was criticizing politicians only.
He admitted the educational sector has been a victim of political interferences and appointments of educators on political grounds.
