KARACHI: A smartly turned out contingent of the Cadets from Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul, will mount the guard at the Mazar of Quaid-e-Azam on the occasion of Quaid’’s birth anniversary.
Rehearsals by the PMA Kakul Cadets are underway at Qauid?s mausoleum. Moreover, lady Cadets are also included in the contingent.
It may be mentioned here that the First Battalion of PMA Kakul was bestowed with Quaid-e-Azam?s patronage as Colonel-in-Chief.

RAWALPINDI: A suicide blast has occurred in Shakrial area of Rawalpindi, injuring one policeman , Geo News reported Thursday.
SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam said that the suicide bomber blew him up when the police asked him to stop.

KARACHI: Police detained six persons from Liaqatabad and Gulistan-e-Jauhar areas allegedly involved in street crimes, while recovered arms and looted stuff from their possession.
SSP Liaqatabad Town Abdul Majeed Khosa said police apprehended 4 alleged street criminals named Farhan, Babar, Waqas and Noman and recovered three TT pistols, five snatched mobile phones and a motorcycle from their possession.
Separately, police detained 2 more accused and seized 2 TT pistols and snatched hand phones.
Alleged persons confessed about a number of criminal activities during the initial investigation. Meanwhile, one associate of the accused named Sajid managed to flee the scene.

NEW YORK: The most expensive fight to be held next year between US boxer Floyd Mayweather and Philippine?s Manny Pacquiao is looking in danger.
The fight was scheduled to be held on March 13 but Bob Arum, the promoter of Pacquiao, has exxpressed fear that the fight could be in serious jeopardy due to controversy in blood test.
Mayweather ahs blamed Pacquiao for using energising drugs and this sis why he was aviding blood test.
However, Pacquiao?s promoter said that Pacquiao did not agree to Olympic Style testing which includes urine and blood sampling. Typical Olympic Style testing consists of 3-5 blood draws and 8-10 urine samples over a 10 urine samples over a 10 week period.
He said that Manny will submit to as many random urine tests requested. Regarding the blood tests, he will subject himself to three tests; one given in January during the week the fight is formally announced, one thirty days from the fight, no later than February 13, and the final one immediately following the fight, in Manny?s locker room.

LAHORE: Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab, Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa Thursday said it is no less than a challenge to ensure an atmosphere of peace and tranquility in this year?s holy month of Moharram-ul-Haram.
He said this at a cabinet committee?s meeting held to review the security arrangements for the Lahore city during the month of Moharram.
Zulfiqar Khosa directed the administration to undertake constant monitoring in order to contain misuse of loud speakers besides ensuring scanning of the Majalis participants through metal detectors.
He ordered the police to make stringent security measures in all the sensitive areas and ensure thorough monitoring of these areas.

KARACHI: The Central Information Secretary of Pakistan People?s Party Fauzia Wahab Thursday said the foremost priority of the government is to crush the terrorists.
She was addressing a protest rally staged by Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) at Karachi Press Club against yesterday?s Peshawar Press Club suicide attack.
Federal Minister for Water and Power, Raja Pervez Ashraf, representatives of KUJ and PFUJ also addressed the rally.
Lauding Pakistan?s efforts in the war on terror, she said the way Pak Army has performed against the scourge of terrorism has left behind by far the troops of developed countries.
?Pakistani people are courageously tackling the challenge of terrorism and the role of media in this regard is also laudable,? she said.

ISLAMABAD: OGDCL, British Petroleum and MOL have been granted permission to carry out seismic surveys at 6 different spots in the country.
According to Petroleum Ministry said OGDCL has permitted to undertake seismic surveys at 600-kilometer area in Thal, Mianwali, Tando Allahyar and Nashpa blocks. British Petroleum has been allowed to carry out seismic surveys at 280 sq.km area in Mirpurkhas while MOL has been granted permission at 655 sq.kms in Tal block.
The seismic survey indicates at what spot to dig well for the exploration of oil and gas.
