Sharifs absence from Punjab questionable: PPP

KARACHI: Bilawal House spokesman Ejaz Durrani has said that the sudden departure of Sharif brothers on foreign visits during President Asif Ali Zardari?s visit to Punjab is questionable for the people.

In a statement issued from Bilawal House on Wednesday, the spokesman said President Asif Ali Zardari is making efforts to unite the nation at one platform at this critical time.

He said that Sharif brothers were given VVIP protocol by the PPP during their visits to Sindh and Balochistan.

?It is the constitutional obligation of Punjab?s Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to give full protocol to the President on his arrival in Punjab,? he said.

The spokesman further said that Shahbaz Sharif talked very sweet but did not act accordingly.

Sharif brothers never accepted the federal politics of the Bhutto family, he alleged.

Scandals-hit Meera faces tax problems

LAHORE: Film star Meera, who has successfully managed to stay in limelight through various scandals, is now stuck in tax-related issues.

Meera has been served a final notice from tax authorities on failing to submit property tax for the past four year.

Excise Officer Garden Town Lahore, Malik Muhammad Aslam told Geo News that Meera has been served a number of notices on her real name Irtiza Arbab but she failed to clear the tax dues.

He warned that if Meera failed to submit Rs217,000 in property tax till January 15, her house will be sealed.

Govt orders action against pro-militant employees

PESHAWAR: The NWFP government, while ordering immediate action, has released a list containing names of 155 government employees who were in contact with militants.

Briefing media on provincial cabinet decisions, NWFP Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that 155 government workers were in touch with terrorists including 120 employees of Health Department, 4 members of police department and 3 workers of Public Health.

The list has been forwarded to district administration so that strict action could be taken against them.

Minister appealed the Supreme Court to appoint Qazis for Malakand division?s Darul Qaza to implement Nizam-e-Adal.

He urged the federal government to release Rs17 billion approved funds as soon as possible.
