U.S. kills FBI-wanted terrorist in Pakistan strike (Detroit Free Press)

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan — A U.S. missile strike in Pakistan killed one of the FBI’s most-wanted terrorists, a man suspected in a deadly 1986 plane hijacking with a $5-million bounty on his head, three Pakistani intelligence officials said today.

US drone strikes kill 9 people in NWA

WANA: Nine back-to-back missiles fired by suspected US drone killed nine people, including one foreigner in North Waziristan tribal region near Afghanistan border on Friday.

According to reports, the missiles first hit a house situated in Mir Ali, in which five people, including a foreign militant, was killed. While one hour after the first attack, unmanned US drones targeted another militants? compound in Shaktoi area, killing four more people.

The unmanned US plane targeted Zarniri area, which is near the spot where U.S. missiles are believed to have narrowly missed the Taliban chief Hakimullah Mehsud the day before.

LB polls in Sindh soon: Ebad

HYDERABAD: Sindh Governor Ishratul Ebad said Friday that the Local Bodies elections would be conducted soon as all matters related to this set-up had been resolved.

Speaking at a book launch ceremony at the Governor House here, he said all parties have reached a consensus about the continuance of the Local Bodies system so that the development projects could not suffer.

The governor said that all issues regarding Local Bodies set-up had been amicably resolved during his meeting with Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah.

He praised Hyderabad District Nazim Kanwar Naveed for undertaking many development projects in the city.

Religious clerics from Philippines meet Gilani

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Friday said the government is taking steps to bring the minorities into mainstream and to ensure provision of equal rights to them.

The prime minister was talking to a delegation of Bishops and Ulema from Philippines at his Parliament House Chamber.

Federal Minister for Minorities Shahbaz Bhatti was also present at the occasion.

The prime minister said Islam teaches peace, tolerance and promotes harmony among religions. He said Islam equates killing of one human being to the killing of the whole humanity. He mentioned that all the prominent scholars of Islam and religious leaders had condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

The prime minister said an Interfaith Complex, representing all religions would soon be constructed in Islamabad.
