ISLAMABAD: Expressing a joint resolve for fighting against terrorism, Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan agreed on adopting a regional approach for resolving issues besides intelligence sharing through tripartite coordination at top government level.
A tri-nation meeting to review Afghanistan situation was held at Foreign Office, Islamabad which was attended by Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Afghan FM Dr. Rangeen Dadfar Spanta and Irani FM Manchehr Mottaki.
The Afghan FM said that his country be kept aside from tensions going on between Pakistan and India.
The meeting exchanged views on new Afghan policy of the US besides deliberating on matters relating to the international conferences on the issue of Afghanistan scheduled to be held in Turkey, Russia and Britain toward the end of this month.
The foreign ministers found themselves on same page for adopting a joint strategy for tackling the challenges of smuggling of arms and drugs as well as insurgency.
At the conclusion of the meeting, they signed a joint statement released in Islamabad.
Later, Shah Mehmood Qureshi told the joint media briefing that a meeting of the three heads of state will soon be held in Islamabad while the chiefs of the three countries? intelligence agencies will meet in Tehran.
He said the meeting of Pak, Afghan, Iran interior ministers will hold a meeting in Islamabad soon while the finance ministers will meet in Kabul.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi also told the reporters that the conference of foreign ministers of Afghanistan and the regional countries will be organized in Tehran shortly.
The foreign minister of Iran said a joint effective strategy will be chalked out in the next three months for resolving the regional issues.

PESHAWAR: NWFP Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti Saturday said that he cannot confirm whether the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan Chief Hakeem Ullah Mehsud was killed in drone attack or still alive.
