ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Wednesday said the detailed verdict of the Supreme Court must not be confused with political dispensations and that the Supreme Court will make the final decision under the Constitution and law if the government tried to act cleverly.
Addressing the National Assembly session here, Chaudhry Nisar said the government should learn its lessons from the past mistakes and abstain from taking a path of no return.
He said the image of armed forces is becoming tarnished as a result of keeping Musharraf under the GHQ?s protection shield.
Chaudhry Nisar urged that the Parliament should take an appropriate step in the light of the statement of Chaudhry Pervez Elahi in which the latter disclosed a plot of the Chief Justice?s assassination. ?A closed door meeting be held by an NA committee, letting Pervez Elahi provide details in connection with his statement.?
He said Pakistani cricket players were humiliated in India but ?we continue to look towards India with expectations?. This practice was introduced by a dictator, he added.
The Opposition Leader called for abandoning all the sports relations with India in every part of the world besides banning the exhibition of India?s movies in Pakistan.
?No member of Pakistan Muslim League-N will undertake India?s visit till the latter rectifies its attitude,? he said.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani Wednesday said all the institutions are functioning under the law and that democracy is facing no threat.
In an interview with a Qatari news channel, the Prime Minister said the government is serious towards reversing the 17th amendment.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Law Minister Babar Awan said on Wednesday that details of plots and farmhouses allotted during previous regimes of Gen (retd) Zia-ul-Haq and Gen (reted) Pervez Musharraf would be presented if the Chairman Senate gave ruling in this regard.
Musharraf?s farmhouse could be used for growing vegetables if the Upper House gave ruling, he added.
State Minister Hina Rabbani Khar said that no secret deal was made with the International Monetary Fund. But admitted that there were few differences with the Fund on some financial issues.
Khar told the Upper House that the government had released 650 million rupees to establish peace committee and laskhar in FATA.

LAHORE: South Punjab observed shutter-down strike on Wednesday against the load shedding of gas and electricity while public demonstrations were staged against the inflation.
