ISLAMABAD: A decision has been made to hold a National Judicial Conference at the full court meeting to be chaired by the Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
A meeting presided over by the Chief Justice here Wednesday granted approval to an increase from 20 percent to 90 percent the judicial allowance of the Supreme Court?s staff.
The meeting also approved computerizing the library of the Supreme Court besides holding video conferencing.
The full court decided to create five positions of research officers.

KARACHI: The name of Engro Chemical Pakistan has been changed to Engro Corporation, says a KSE notice.
As per details, the company has been renamed to Engro Corporation after the verdict of Sindh High Court.
The change was applicable from today and shares trading of the company started with the new name on Wednesday.
Engro administration said shareholders had already been informed of the change in company?s name.

KARACHI: Passengers aboard on two different private-airline flights bound to Lahore and Islamabad were evacuated at the Karachi airport on receiving bomb threats on Wednesday.
However, the information proved false as the Bomb Disposal Squad and Airport Security Force conducted search and cleared the aircrafts.

LAHORE: The Punjab Cabinet is due to meet on Thursday to approve amendments in the Punjab Local Government Act.
Punjab?s Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is also scheduled to return to the country on Thursday.
Speaking to newsmen outside Punjab Assembly, Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said that PML-N would present the proposed amendments in Punjab Local Government Act before the provincial cabinet. The government will then table the bill in the assembly after getting cabinet?s nod, he added.
The minister said that his party wants to bring a unanimous bill in the Assembly by taking opposition and allies on board.

KARACHI: The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP)?s chief Muhibullah Shah said Wednesday that Pakistan will take part in trade caravans in Iran and Turkey.
Talking to Iranian delegation here, he said trade caravan will travel to various cities of Iran and Turkey by road and Pakistani products will be showcased.
Shah further said Pakistani delegation will also take part in trade exhibitions in Tehran and Mashhad.
During the meeting, he invited Iranian traders to attend the Pakistan Expo 2010, which will start from 26 February.
