PPP, MQM resolve to sort out issues by consultation

KARACHI: PPP-MQM Core Committee comprising members of Pakistan People?s Party and Muttahida Qaumi Movement Saturday reiterated to resolve the issues, including the matter of local bodies election, mutually.

The Core Committee reviewed the prevailing political situation and working relationship at a meeting held at Sindh Chief Minister House here.

PPP leaders, Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq, Agha Siraj Durrani, Rashid Rabbani, Najmi Aalam, Saeed Ghani and MQM leaders Raza Haroon, Waseem Aftab, Dr. Sagheer Ahmed and Khalid Bin Wilayat were present in the meeting.

The leaders of both the parties talked about working relationship while MQM pointed out the matter of vacant positions is various departments of Sindh.

It was later decided, during the meeting, that appointment letters will be issued for vacant positions on merit basis.

Talking to Geo News, Provincial Minister Agha Siraj Durrani said progress has been made with Awami National Party and Muslim League- Functional on the matter of local bodies election.

He further said government officers will be appointed as administrators after endorsing a bill from the Sindh Assembly.

Govt returns Justice Saqib?s appointment summary to CJP

ISLAMABAD: The government has returned the summary regarding appointment of Justice Saqib Nisar in the Supreme Court of Pakistan to the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Law has said that Chief Justice of Lahore High Court Khwaja Sharif, being a senior judge, has a right for appointment in the Supreme Court.

It further said that the President and Prime Minister have been consulted in this regard.

The office of the Chief Justice of Pakistan has been informed about the review carried out on the summary regarding Justice Saqib Nisar?s appointment, the Ministry said. In the light of Aljehad Trust case, the senior most judge can be inducted in the Supreme Court, it added.
