GROS ISLET, Saint Lucia: India’’s Suresh Raina became only the second batsman in the ICC World Twenty20 and third to score a century in Twenty20 international cricket when he made 101 against South Africa here on Sunday.
Raina’’s century, off 59 balls, was the centre-piece of India’’s total of 186 for five in the first innings of their World Twenty20 Group C match against the Proteas at the Beausejour Stadium.
Only West Indies” Chris Gayle and New Zealand’’s Brendon McCullum had previously scored hundreds at this level.

ABBOTABAD: Leaders of the Tehrik Hazara Province on Sunday threatened to hold long mach on Islamabad if their legitimate demand for a separate province was not met.
On the call of campaign leader Baba Haider Zaman, a complete shutter down strike was observed in Hazara Division. A public meeting was also held at the Shuhda Chowk in Abbotabad to lodge their protest against the renaming of NWFP as Khber Pakhtunkhwa.
Sardar Haider Zaman, Amanullah Khan Jadon, Qalandar Khan Lodhi, Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani, Dr Azhar Jadoon and Wasim Khan Jadon addressed the gathering.
The speakers said that separate Hazara province would be achieved through a revolution, not by any resolution. They also decided not to hold any talks with the federal as well as provincial government.
?Those willing to hold talks will be welcomed only if they bring good news of Hazara province,? they said.

LAHORE: Managing Director of Pakistan Electricity Power Company (PEPC), Tahir Basharat Cheema, said Sunday that energy conservation plan would be strictly implemented and its benefits would get to the people.
This he claimed while speaking to the chief executives of power distribution companies at the Wapda House.
Cheema said another 271MW have added to the system. ?2010 is the year to end power theft,? he said. Strict measures will be taken to stop power theft, he said.
He directed the power distribution companies to keep in view the needs of industrial, agricultural and domestic consumers so that power crisis would be overcome.

VIHARI: Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman Sunday termed the UN Commission?s report on the assassination of Benazir Bhutto as ?ambiguous?; it fails to provide answers to a number of questions.
He was talking to media men after expressing his condolence with the family members of deceased Maulana Gul Muhammad here.
?If the UN Commission?s report satisfies the government then it is the responsibility of the latter to uncover the assassins of Ms Benazir Bhutto,? Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman said.
He said Awami National Party (ANP) has got ?registered Khyber Pukhtoonwkwa? name from Punjab.
Regarding the 17th amendment, the JUI Chief said only a few clauses were changed on which ?I put my signature with reservations?.
?JUI wants provincial autonomy under the 18th amendment of the Constituion, renaming of the province is someone else?s agenda,? he maintained.

Raina’’s century, 101 off 60 balls, was the centre-piece of India’’s big total in the Group ”C” match. He smashed five sixes and nine fours and became only the third batsman to score a Twenty20 international century.
Only West Indies” Chris Gayle and New Zealand’’s Brendon McCullum had previously made centuries at this level.
Together with Yuvraj Singh (37) he added 88 runs in 10 overs for the third wicket partnership after the pair came together with India 32 for two in the sixth over.

FAISALABAD: A woman was made to lie down on her stomach and tortured in a police station of Faisalabad in the presence of senior male officers who appeared to be taking pleasure out of watching the humiliating act.
It has become a common scene where accused, normally males, are subjected to flogging by police. But what happened in the above police station is enough to make humanity feel ashamed where the woman was tortured and abused before senior male police officers.
A female DSP and SHO Women Zahida Perveen were also present on the occasion.
Women constables slapped the woman, wearing red Shalwar Kameez, whoe was later made to lie down on her stomach for flogging on the orders of male police officers.
SHO Nasrullah Niazi, on the occasion, appears to be talking to the woman, being subjected to the humiliation, about learning some lesson.
The woman in the TV footage appears to be shouting, asking the female and male police personnel to stop the insulting act.
