KARACHI: Intermediate papers postponed

KARACHI: The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi announced postponement of all papers scheduled for tomorrow (June 4).

According to chairman Intermediate Board Karachi Dr. Anwar Ahmadzai, the papers of Islamiat and Pakistan Studies scheduled on June 4 have been postponed after prediction of thunderstorm and rains on Friday. The papers will be held now on June 28, he added.

KARACHI: Dacoits made bank staff hostage in Aligarh area of Karachi, Geo News reported on Thursday.

Matric, Inter, Technical Board, KU papers postponed

KARACHI: Matric Board has postponed practical papers which were to be held on Friday due to the inclement weather forecast for the next three days.

The new date of above papers will be announced later.

Papers scheduled for tomorrow under Intermediate Board, Technical Board and University of Karachi have also been called off.

Chairman Intermediate Board postponed the papers of Islamiat and Pakistan Studies in the wake of the weather forecast of stormy season ahead. These papers will now be held on June 28.

Advisor Examination University of Karachi also postponed all the papers scheduled to be held on June 4. New schedule for the papers will be made notified later.

Sindh Technical Board has also called off tomorrow?s papers. Now its paper of TSC will be held on June 15 and that of DAE on June 23.

Upgraded Phet to crash into Pakistan Sunday

KARACHI: Meteorological Department said strong tropical cyclone brewing up in Arabian Sea is fast approaching Omani coastline and is at least 200 kilometers from the Sultanate, Geo News reported Thursday.

However, it is expected to roar into Pakistan on Sunday.

The furious Cyclone Phet upgraded to category 4, which is a dangerous sign; however, the storm is quite far from Pakistan at present and it is expected to lose its intensity in degrees below the Category One as it lands the Pakistani coastline.

Phet at present is apace on way with at 115 nautical miles towards Oman and is expected to thrash the Sultanate for three days and consequently will enervate to Category One.

Later on, the weakened storm will head towards Pakistan with lessened force of 34 to 39 NM per hour. The cyclone will pass through Pakistani coastal areas on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

In the meantime, the coastal areas from Balochistan?s Omara to Iran?s area of Chah Bahar may be lashed by the storm.

Subsequently, the cyclone will morph into windstorm to cause driving rains in Upper Sindh areas. And later on, the windstorm will enter Indian state of Rajasthan.

Hike in public transport fares approved

KARACHI: A notification to increase public transport fares has been issued by the Government of Sindh. According to the notification issued by the transport department hike would be effected from June 01.

In the wake of decreasing international oil prices as well as domestic hike in fares is shocking.

Secretary Transport Sindh, Iqbal Dewan told Geo News that the transporters demanded increase of Rs 2 but the government rejected it. ”The said notification was signed before the announcement of decrease in petrol prices.”

Bandit killed in failed robbery attempt

KARACHI: One bandit was killed while four policemen sustained injuries in exchange of firing and hand grenade attack during bank robbery in the limits of Pirabad Police Station at Ali Garh area in Orangi town on Thursday.

The sources said the deceased was a dacoit. The robbers attacked police with hand grenade, injuring four cops. The fire caught the motorbikes parked nearby.

The injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Dacoits belonged to Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, SSP Raja Umar Khatab told Geo News.
