Plea against Hijratullah admitted for hearing
LAHORE: A division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday admitted an appeal of the Punjab government for regular hearing to enhance sentence awarded to suspected terrorist Hijratullah by the ATC.
The anti terrorist court had awarded 10 years imprisonment to Hijratullah arrested by the security forces during Manawan terrorist attack for possessing hand grenades.
Earlier, the Punjab government filed an appeal for enhancement of sentence, which was dismissed by the LHC due to non-prosecution.
However, on Thursday, the bench comprising LHC Chief Justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif and Justice Waqar Hassan Mir accepted the appeal and admitted the case to enhance sentence for regular hearing.
It is pertinent to mention that the said suspected terrorist had already acquitted by an ATC in Manawan Training Centre terrorists attack case and the LHC taking a suo motto notice directed government to provide information in this regard.
